I sat in the shade cast by the roof of one of the houses in my village. It was bright today, the sun rays beamed down onto the earth nearly scorching the ground.

Everyone was out today. I saw my cousins, neighbors and close friends walk past me heading for the entrance of the village. M father tried ushering me towards the entrance telling me it is too much of a beautiful day to be hiding in the shade. I never liked the heat. It was always hard to escape.

The reason everyone was flocking towards the entrance was because we had a visitor. He was a slayer. My father ordered everyone to show the slayer kindness and make it seem like everything was okay, like usual. Everyone wanted the slayer to leave in fear he might discover our protector that lives in the forest next to our little village. My father was so afraid of our protector being discovered he even told the women of the village to throw themselves at the slayer. In hopes the catch his eye, fuck him and convince him to leave and never come back.

I found it stupid when he panicked. We had a couple of slayers visit the village. They always left, they were too oblivious or gullible. That was how cults worked. If you smile enough, talked enough, hell even blinked correctly they'll turn a blind eye. They always do. You would naturally think a demon slayer would notice the huge paths of crushed logs that led into the forest or the cave that was not too far from here and with blood decorating the other edge of the rocky edges of it, but no, they were all stupid. This one was no different.

"Hello there!"

I snapped out of my daze and looked up.

The first thing I saw were eyes that remind me of the sun. His iris were yellow with red circle borders. His hair was long and flame colored just like his eyes. He stood at a good height towering over me since I was sitting down. Yo could feel the heat bursting from his body. Soon as he stepped in front of me the coldness of the shade rushed away and hid into he deep cracks of the home behind me. I had to stop myself from frowning at him.

"Hi", I answered with a questionable tone.

"My name is Kyojuro Rengoku", he introduced loudly.

I glanced at my father who was staring deep into my soul to the point I could hear him in my mind telling me what to do.

"...Nice to meet you my name is Y/n", I replied. "Is there something you need", I questioned.

"I was hoping you would be able to take me on a tour around you village", he answered not blinking at all. "I saw you were sitting in the shade, it is too much of a beautiful day to be sitting!", he stated.

I looked over seeing the flock of young girls listening intently hoping I say no. I looked back at Rengoku. Before I could deny him my father stepped in.

"Go on Y/n show the Mr. Rengoku around", my father smiled. "You know the history of our little village better than me", he stated then looked at Rengoku. "Old ages does mess with you I can't even remember my name sometimes", my father chuckled. That's a damn lie.

Rengoku laughed robotically at his joke. "That is funny! You would make a good comedian", Rengoku complimented making my father chuckle. Rengoku then focused back onto me.

"Shall we take that tour now unless you don't wish to", he questioned. I smiled up at him.

"Yes I am ready", I answered. "Splendid!", he exclaimed his eyes widening a bit to express his joy. Rengoku held his hand out towards me. I reached out for it. When my hand hovered over it I could feel the heat from t making my hand flinched away for a second. When I got use to it I slid my hand into his and allowed him to help me to my feet.

"Right this way", I said then began guiding him along the path.

The path in my village was a huge circular intersection. Our village was surrounded by a huge wooden pillar fence. The only way into he village was through a wooden gate. In the middle of our village was a huge pole place don cement circle platform. It was our, chosen one pole.

I guided Rengoku by every shop and house to help him get acquainted with everything. If he sees the people are happy he'll eventually leave.

"Something smell tasty!", he exclaimed stopping to sniff the air. I stopped since he stopped and looked towards the bakery house.

"That is Ms. Meredith cooking, she's cooking the sweet potato pie recipe I made", I informed. His head snapped back towards me.

"I love sweet potatoes!", he exclaimed, remember this guy is talking loud tot he point his voice is shaking the ground underneath us. "Me too", I smiled genuinely back at him. "Thought I was only one to like sweet potatoes", I said. "It is my favorite meal", he informed. "Well once we finish touring around we should stop by again to see if she's finish baking", I suggested which he shook his head to.

"No need I would like to taste your pie first", he replied. "It's going to be a while until I cook today", I informed. "I can wait", he replied. "Okay then, I'll share it with you", I giggled about to look away, but I noticed our hands were still interlocked. I quickly released his hand.

"I'm sorry I didn't realize we were still holding hands", I apologized. "There's nothing to apologize for, you were simply guiding me around", he reassured. "I would have gotten lost", he added. "I'm sure you wouldn't have, you'll eventually grasp the area", I replied.

Rengoku smiled at me then took another look around.

"This place is truly beautiful", he complimented looking back at me. "Thank you Rengoku", I replied.

"Kyojuro", he said. "Hm", I hummed in question. "You may call me Kyojuro", he specified. "Then thank you Kyojuro", I corrected smiling at him. "Our home is beautiful and well protected", I informed. "By who", he asked. "By the men here", I lied.

Kyojuro stared at me with his usual face and intense smile, but you could see in his eyes he was not convinced.

"Right", he replied. "Well I should show you where you will be sleeping, you are staying for ht enough correct", I asked. "Mhm! I am resting here for the night", he replied. Good, if he leaves in the mounting the harvest will contuse tomorrow night. I had to stop myself from frowning again. If I can convince Kyojuro we are safe, I will have lesser chance to get picked.

"Ms. Y/n", Kyojuro called snapping me out of my thoughts. "Sorry", I apologized. "It is quite alright", he replied. "And you can call me Y/n, Ms. makes me feel old", I giggled. "Very well then Y/n", he replied holding his hand out towards me again. I looked at it then back at his eyes.

"You want me to hold your hand", I chuckled lightly. "I must admit I like how it fits in my hand!", he chuckled . "It looks nice". I felt him apply pressure to my hand a bit.

The warmth of his hand was scorching my skin. I usually would hate the heat of it and would've ripped it from his grasp, but it felt bearable. It was almost comforting even.

"It does look nice", I giggled. "Shall we", I questioned. "Lead the wya", he smiled.

I tuned around and began leaning him to where he was staying for the night.
