Her eyes. Her green eyes. They were shining.
I had been to the south island of New Zealand when I was a kid. There was this lake named Tekapo that located at the heart of the island. We stopped by for a break from hours of driving. It was a rather cloudy day, the lake was lifeless with thick clouds hovering above. As if it wanted us to stay for a little bit more time, the sunlight managed to hit the surface right before we hit the road again. I remembered I urged my mum to turn off the engine and ran to the lake. The lake was no longer grayish and lifeless, the sunlight magically brought different shades of green to it. It was still calm and quiet, but the surface became transparent, layers of green colors hidden beneath it began to emerge, shining and dancing in front of me. Just like her eyes.
"Juniper, pine, seaweed, basil, crocodile, emerald, shamrock, parakeet..."
"Taylor?" someone was calling my name. Stop it! I wanted to count the colors in that girl's eye.
"Taylor!" the owner of the voice tried again.
"Hum? Oh! Yeah! Cara!" I was suddenly brought back to real life, realizing I was standing next to Cara Delevingne on the stage in the auditorium of my middle school. But for a second I couldn't remember why I was here for the first place. That girl with green eyes was distracting me from focusing on anything else. She had the most mesmerizing eyes I had ever seen.
"Let's discuss the script, shall we?" Cara asked.
The script? Oh right! The script. My brain was finally functioning. "Sure. I revised some parts of it, we need to go through with everybody" by "some parts" I meant I revised most part of the script.
I ran into Cara on my way home couple days ago. She was a senior in my old middle school and I was a junior in high school. Almost everyone from my middle school knew me because I was the one in charge of the drama club. Drama club was the most popular club in my school. We had different contests and events to go through the year, and we held an annual benefit show open to public during every holiday season. It was to show everyone what we had been working on, how much we had improved, also to raise funding for the club. It was THE big day for the club. I played in the benefit show in freshman year and directed it two years in a roll later. I knew Cara when I visited the drama club a year ago.
"Cara the drama club queen! You guys must have been insanely busy with the benefit show right?" I said.
"Taylor! My life saver!" She looked thrilled when recognized me, "I have a huge favor to ask. I need your help. You can totally say no. Oh wait. First, yes, of course we've been working on the show. But I NEED your help. We are a mess now. Our director can't handle the script anymore and she has no idea what she's been doing now. I'm the producer so I have to figure out a plan B asap because I can feel she's losing it. Are you busy now? Can you help us out? We have everything planned out but we are missing something. I don't know what that is but it's definitely missing. Honestly I'm freaking out. Freak the freaking out!" she was worried, upset, and totally "freak the freaking out". She didn't even stop a bit to finish speaking.
