Octavia stood over the body of the wolf she had just killed. Insignificant. She felt no pain, no remorse for the actions she had just committed.
He was one of them. He deserved a fate far worse than death. He was lucky she hadn't been in the mood to torture her victim this time, and the reason for that stood at 4 feet 4 inches, looking at her with the bluest eyes she had ever seen.
Octavia had already done the math: she wasn't human, and yet she couldn't bring herself to hurt her.
"What are you doing out here, child? Scary things come out at night," Octavia said honestly as the little girl walked up to her and smiled.
"I bet none of them are as scary as my brother. He will find me; he should just about be figuring out that I'm missing him now."
The child said as Octavia cursed, knowing that the Alpha male would stop at nothing to find his charge. She could only imagine his reaction when he found her in the arms of a huntress; he would most likely shoot first, then ask questions later.
That was exactly what she would do if the roles were reversed. All in all, much was left to be desired of his parental skills if he allowed his little sister to wander away alone in a dark forest at night.
"What about your parents? I noticed that they only seemed to speak of your brother," Octavia asked curiously. But then again, maybe she shouldn't be curious about these creatures at all. She didn't want to humanize the monsters.
She wanted to feel no regrets when she put a bullet in their hearts, and developing a conscience toward those monsters certainly wasn't the way to go about doing that.
"My brother said that the Moon Goddess brought them home, but I've heard persons in the pack whispering when they thought I wasn't listening. I know that they were murdered by hunters," the little girl said as deep in Octavia's stomach, she felt a pang of regret for their similar tragic past. To her, werewolves were always the monster under the bed; she had never stopped to consider that humans could be the monsters under hers.
"I'm sorry. No one should have their parents taken away from them like that," Octavia said as the girl continued to observe her as if she couldn't quite figure her out. The teen continued to observe her with sharp eyes that seemed to know so much more than she let on.
Octavia looked down at herself. She was dressed in an all-black assassin suit. There was a hidden pistol strapped to her thigh that she could have used. It was probably loaded with silver bullets, but the fact that she hadn't used it spoke volumes of her character.
"Is that why I see so much fear in your eyes? I can't help but notice the titan knife that you have hidden in your jacket coat, and from the smell of it, it's made from pure silver too," the teenager said as Octavia looked at her, trying her best to figure her out but failing miserably. She was one of those children who had been forced to grow up too soon.
Damage recognized damage, and that was exactly what this girl standing in front of her was: damaged... a mirror reflection of herself.
"A girl can never be too careful. Besides, it's encrusted with diamonds, and you know what they always say..." Octavia said as she paused, and they both answered the question together.
"Diamonds are a girl's best friend," they both said together as they chuckled and smiled. If they had met on any other day and in any other place, and one wasn't a werewolf while the other was human, they knew they would have been the best of friends.
"Do you still perceive me to be a threat?" Luna-Mia asked Octavia as Octavia looked into her silver eyes that reflected like pools of water in the moonlight. She seemed so childlike at that moment, so innocent and... well, human.
