"Found her? What do you mean?"

Candy Pop sighed. "You never were one to understand. She's been marked. They're after her. Liu and Clockwork have already been spotted here." He held his hands together and raised them above his head, stretching out his back until there was a loud POP and he sighed.

"If everyone is looking for you, nobody will be around our world." Candy Pop sneered as though his idea was genius.

"Why should I trust you?" I felt the tension rule the air in a thick fog. My old friend finally shook his head. "I came here to talk to you. But if you don't wish to listen, I won't force you. Good luck Jason." With that, Candy Pop bolted out the back door and vanished. The pastas... After her? Jack was my friend and Jeff was.... Well he was something. Not usually interested in my business. My friends couldn't be tricking me, right?

Once I was sure he was gone, I bolted out the door and threw myself on the girl standing on the porch. She jumped in surprise then relaxed. I rested my head on her shoulder and breathed in her scent. I loved humans. I did. The heartbeat. The smell of life. I wasn't a human. I wanted to be. Sometimes... I wanted to be normal. I know I never would. I'm not normal. I can't control myself when i'm angry. But perhaps I love her BECAUSE she's a human. She's been keeping me sane. It's been awhile since my mind has been cleared so much. I wanted to be like this always.

I pressed my ear against the door, hearing scuffling in my house. I had nowhere to go. I would wait until I feel safe. There was a sudden crash and I felt my heart speed up. Then it changed to soft talking. I made myself still so whatever was in there wouldn't hear me. Then the talking abruptly stopped and my door swung open.

I panicked for a moment. What just happened? Then I felt his soft red hair on my skin and relaxed. His arms tightened around my shoulders and in a flash, I felt excitement. It was so rare these days. Once again, it was as if I was seeing in color. I buried my face in his shoulder and returned the hug with as much force as I could. God, what was wrong with me? HE WAS A KILLER! But.. Still.. He was kind to me. I didn't feel alone when I was with him. Dare I even say... Safe of a sort? Safe? With this killer? I pressed my cheek on his chest like he did with me. But I couldn't hear a thing. I listened more but there was no sign of a heartbeat.

I raised my head and looked him in the eyes. "Who..What...are you?"

Jason's fingers ran through my hair. The soft touches lulled me until I rested against him again. What was once black and white, was a rainbow. When I touched him, it was a fresh feeling. But when he touched me, it's like I was seeing a whole new world around me. His hair tickled my nose and I looked up, slightly shorter than him, and stared into his eyes. "You're not normal."

I raised my hand up to touch his face. Grazing my fingers over his cheeks, it felt almost unreal. His skin was so soft, it felt like porcelain. Jason grinned, his sharp teeth shone down on me but I wasn't afraid. "Neither are you." He set a hand on my head. "Perhaps, there is something I must tell you. But we must go somewhere safe."
