"I ran. And the night I found your name in the well, I knew our fates were together." Jason stared into the trees, his eyes blank as he got lost in thought. "Every minute you're with me, I feel as though my sanity is returning."

The killer blinked, coming back to earth and let himself fall against a tree. I watched, speechless. What do I say to a being like him?

"Promise me something, (y/n)." Jason slid down to the ground and closed his eyes. I let myself approach. He truly was psychotic; but not mean. "What is it?" I leaned down with a whisper. The birds began to make noises, filling the absent silence.

"Promise you won't abandon me too." Jason's voice trailed off as he slipped into sleep. Perhaps I should let him rest. All all of this must have taken a toll on the redhead. "I promise." I muttered, sitting in front of him. As I gazed over his face, it looked so peaceful as he slept. Who could have guessed he's killed children? Jason was so colorful, even his silver eyes seemed to shine with light when he spoke. I brushed some hair from his face, carefully taking his hat off to set it beside him.

Before I backed away, I decided to lean forward and place a gentle kiss on his lips. The moment I stood up, I heard a voice. Whispered so quietly, I couldn't understand their words. It was directly behind me but when I turned back, nobody was there. But I kept hearing a voice in the direction. I wasn't going crazy right? The whispering grew louder as I decided to move closer. Would this be wise? I looked back to Jason, still sleeping. It would be foolish to leave him alone; so I turned back to return when something grabbed my arm. In a harsh tug, I didn't even have time to scream when a hand was fit over my mouth. I made an attempt to put up a fight, kicking and struggling, trying to escape. Even biting their hand but they didn't even flinch when my teeth sunk into them.

Who was this? I began to panic. Was I going to die? My chest felt tight and I couldn't breathe with the tight grip. Should I just give up? I didn't have much choice. Until the stranger vanished and I fell to the ground. A sharp pain hit the side of my head and knocked my vision astray. What was happening? Where did they go? My entire head felt like it was on fire. I made out a figure lying on the ground, the colors seemed to smudge together in one blob. I blinked and shook my head, looking back to the stranger. Her long brown hair covered a wide area around her head as she lay on the ground, above her was a familiar man. "Jason!" I couldn't stop myself from crying out. He woke up! How did he hear the situation? Well, it wasn't important right now. His foot held over her stomach, pinning her to the ground. Jason's eyes were shining in an emerald green and he barred his teeth at the girl. If I hadn't known him, I would be terrified. The girl seemed to smirk though. "You have no idea, do you?" She chuckled, grabbing onto his leg. "I'm saving you. You're not yourself. You're a murderer." The girl turned her head to observe me, struggling to my feet. My heart skipped a beat when I saw the other half of her face. One of the girl's eyes had been replaced by a small ticking clock. Jason narrowed his eyes, pulling himself away from her grasp. The girl pushed herself to a sit. "Five seconds. Tell me why I shouldn't kill you, right now Clockwork." The toymaker growled in a hushed breath. "Is Liu here?"

Clockwork, apparently her name, shook her head, letting her hair move awkwardly over her face. "No. It's just me. You'd make the mistake to kill me. She's going to destroy you."

Who... Was this? "I would never!" I interrupted angrily. How dare she!? The girl grinned innocently, tilting her head. "The little necklace you have is a tracking device. I know everything about you. About how you escaped from a hospital, pretending to be a normal girl. You're not though, are you?"

I flinched at her words, pulling the charm out from under my shirt. I saw a surprised look in Jason's eyes and I tried to hurriedly explain. "I-I had no idea. I would have told you if I knew-" I started but the redhead held up a hand. "I'm not interested. You were tricked. She's trying to hurt us." Jason leaned down, grabbing a handful of her shirt to lift her up. The girl didn't even struggle. She waited until she was in the air to frown. "If you kill me, you're going to die. You're making a mistake-!" I watched in horror as she was cut short, Jason tore inside of her chest and with a crushing noise, his hand pierced through her back. Her eyes lined with horror and pain, and she fell limp. Jason paused a moment then ripped his hand out to throw her body against a nearby tree.

This was perfect. Just how I had planned. He destroyed his only protection. I pulled the music box I had gotten so long ago from my pocket. The moment I had been waiting for. I reached my hand over the side to twist the handle. The lid opened gently to play a soft song. I watched the ballerina dance for a second before wrapping my hand around her body and tearing it out. The ballerina ripped out, and with it, the music box began to fall silent. Jason crumbled to his knees, a panicked look in his eyes before he finally noticed to box in my hand. "(y-y/n)." The killer gasped out. He clawed at his chest as if pulling out his own heart would help. I knew it wouldn't though. He didn't have one of course. His life force was in my hand, failing. Jason tried to pull himself toward me but he didn't move much before falling. I approached slowly, tossing the music box aside. It hit the ground with a crash and I kneeled beside the killer with a soft smile. How naive. How trusting. "You said you saw my name in the well of future." I spoke to the toymaker. "You thought it was fate to fall in love."

A spark of fear fell over Jason's face like it all made sense. "I never loved you. I'm an emotionless human who's only goal is to kill all I can in secret. You doomed yourself when you found me. I am your future." I paused, waiting for his reaction. Jason didn't speak but a dull pain showed in his eyes. "But this future is your end. Not every toy's gears tick right. And not every story has a happy ending" I pulled myself up. "Nobody will come for you." I closed my eyes, letting a sigh escape my lips. "Rake." Jason suddenly coughed out. How ridiculous he was still able to talk. "Rake?" I repeated, slightly confused. Jason looked behind me; so I followed his gaze, where a strange slender demon-like creature dragged itself out of the woods.

"Your future is at an end too." The toymaker said his last words before a pair of large claws came at me and it went dark.
