Key to remember:
A "changeling" is a baby/toddler fairy-tale creature_________________________________________
I'm sorry guys but I have to. I sprint out of the village and to the border of the kingdom. I turn and look at the beautiful sight in front of me. The fluorescent, stringed fairy lights hang over the kingdom of elves. Some pixies fly above the trees, bringing dreams to the land below. The changelings laugh while practicing their magic in the village. Parents of the changelings laugh at their excitement and help them with their potion makings. Boy, am I gonna miss this place. I thought to myself.
I trudge out of the kingdom, never looking back. The place I grew up in starts fading into the abyss. I hike down the path that leads to the Fairy Territory. Maybe I can ask one of the fairies to help with guidance... I suddenly hear the giggling and the magic practice coming from behind the trees. I move some branches and spot some small, dainty changelings flying around with their glittery, pastel-colored wings.
One of the changelings fly over to me. She tilts her head. "What are you doing here, Prince Elaith?" She questions. I give her a small, warm smile.
"I was wondering if I could speak to Queen Taneisha. Do you possibly know where she is?" She thinks for a minute, tapping her foot against the gravel-covered path.
"She might be in the village helping Lady Delra.." She stated, trying to remember if that was the place she last saw her. "Oh! I forgot to introduce myself to you, Prince Elaith. Anyway, my name is Trixy. I'm a water fairy, and can summon any water creature I wish to." She gave me a smile.
"It is a pleasure to meet you, Trixy. And thank you, for telling me where Queen Taneisha is. If you need anything, I owe you a favor." I bow to her and smile.
"It is my pleasure, Your Highness! And you don't have to owe me anything. It was a delight meeting you!" She beamed, a twinkle forming in her eye. I bow to her and she bows back. I walk off and head towards the village. Everyone I pass gives me a warm smile and a "Welcome, Your Highness." It was honestly sweet in my opinion.
"Ah! Prince Elaith! What can us fairies do for you?" I turn my gaze to my right and notice Queen Taneisha gliding toward me. I bow.
"Greetings, Queen Taneisha. I was wondering if you could give me some guidance.. If your willing to that is, Your Majesty."
"Guidance? What do you need guidance for?" She questioned.
"I need to know the route to the Cakora Kingdom. If you know." I demanded with a kind smile. She sighs.
"Why not just ask your father? King Elroy?" She gazed at me suspiciously. I let out a sigh.
"We... haven't exactly been on the best of terms.. Just.. please.. Queen Taneisha.. You are my last chance.."
...
"Fine. Here is the map of all the kingdoms in our region. The Cakora Kingdom is north of us fairies. I'm warning you though. The Ogre Territory can be... well... territorial.. Best of luck, Prince Elaith. May one of my knights assist you on your journey?" Queen Taneisha seemed very serious about what she had said. I think about it for a moment.
"I think I should be good on the knight. I thank you though, Queen Taneisha, for your very kind request." I state, matter-of-factly. She sighs and nods.
"As you wish, Your Highness. But please. Be very careful out in those woods. Especially around the Ogre Territory."
"I will, Your Majesty." I bow to her and she bows back.
"Before I forget," I turn back around and look at her, "I'm guessing you don't have enough rations to last you a week's journey?" I search through my satchel. I sigh again.
"Unfortunately, I thought I packed enough. But turns out I didn't."
"Well, come on into the castle and I'll get you some more food."
Timeskip
"Thank you very much, Your Majesty." I say, bowing as I respond. She let's out a chuckle.
"No problem, Your Highness. Now, I suggest you get a move on before noon. You'll be traveling for atleast a week, and you'll need to set up camp." She bows and I bow back. I turn around and start making my way up the trail. The rays of the sun beamed, reflecting off of the stream. The wind gently rocks the trees causing the leaves to sway in the air. Doing mini backflips as they bellow with the wind.
And so, this journey begins.
