July summer hit Japan with a deep sense of dread. Humidity scorched U.A. students and staff, who were thankful that most of their classes were indoors. The last bell rang out, signaling the end of the day. Those who were on their way home ran fast to avoid the upcoming rainstorm. But unfortunately for two students, they were stuck inside for a few more hours.

"Why are you in detention?" Daigo Yamato asked his roommate, Iromegane Kuro, as he walked through the door and sat at the desk beside him. Kuro gave him a sour look, pulling his hair back and leaning forward in the chair.

"I stole Tsukomo's attendance sheet cause I was late yesterday. Wanted to change it." He explained, waving his hand in the air. "You?"

"What do you think?" Daigo offered, kicking his feet up on the desk.

"1-B?" Kuro guessed.

"1-B." Daigo answered, shaking his head. "And I'm supposed to walk Matsura home from the hospital today, so this is just great." His arms were crossed over his chest. Kuro tapped his finger to his chin.

"You've been doing that weekly now." He remarked, holding in a laugh. "It's almost admirable".

"Don't start," Daigo said, turning his head to face the blackboard. "I don't want to hear it from another person". His response gave Iromegane enough clues to draw a picture of how they both ended up in an empty classroom with an Ectoplasm clone hovering near the doorway.

"So, what I'm piecing together is that Genta called her your girlfriend again, right?" Kuro said, causing Daigo to huff. A light pink shade splashed itself across his face and ears.

"Who'd you blind for that information?" Yamato mumbled, pulling his headband down from his forehead to cover his face. Kuro faked a shocked gasp, taking the end of the headband and pulling it back, releasing it at the last second so Daigo would nearly smack his head into the desk.

"Rude." Kuro said, reaching for the headband again. When Yamato shouted in retaliation, he cut in, saying "I'll cut you some slack if you tell me why you're doing this." Letting go of him, Kuro watched the other boy stare at him in confusion. "The whole 'protecting Matsura' thing. I mean, she can handle herself." Kuro recalled a few times where Matsura used her quirk to warp some 1-B students away into her zipper dimension, earning her a nice seat in detention last week. Daigo rolled his eyes, his hands in his hair, brushing back to fix his bangs.

"I'm not protecting her." He said, "I'm just making sure rumors don't spread too far." He pulled his bangs forward over his left eye, staring through them at the board. Iromegane tapped the desk.

"And in doing so you've gotten into... how many fights?" He counted on his fingers, putting emphasis on getting to ten with no more fingers to count on. Daigo held his breath, trying to control himself.

"You don't know what those kids are saying about her.." He muttered, staring at his hands. "They think she skips school for laughs, like she's abusing her seat in the hero course. A lot of students resent her.." His fists clenched, slowly falling to his sides. "I'm one of the only ones who knows what's really going on. So when I hear that junk, I can't just sit there. I'm going to defend her." He released his fists, nail marks were visible on the center of his palms. Kuro sighed, tapping the side of his glasses.

"At this rate, you're going to get jail time." He mentioned, leaning on his chin. "What is she hiding, anyways?" He asked, watching Daigo's expression carefully. The other boy looked as though Iromegane had asked him for his social security number. Blowing out air, Kuro tapped the desk again. "We have three hours and it's just the two of us. You know I don't pass rumors around, Mr. homeless guy." He stated almost insultingly. "You can trust me."
