'~ the great hall filled with chatty students as dinner was set to begin soon. you and hermione walked alongside each other down the long aisle until you reached the table your friend group normally sat at.

ever since you two met up after your walk by the great lake earlier that day, you were much more vibrant and talkative, considering the fact you had an intense meltdown just that morning.

"you seem in a much better mood, y/n." she pointed out with a smile as you both sat down next to each other at your table.

"yeah, cedric and i hung out for a bit and talked." you admitted to her with a small grin.

"cedric, huh?" she questioned, then hummed thoughtfully as she nodded her head and looked away from you.

"you know he fancies you, right?" she asked casually, still looking at nothing in particular. your heart skipped a beat and your face got warm.

"no way, does he really?" you asked a little too excitedly.

she chuckled at you, "yes, y/n. it's ridiculously obvious too." you shook your head with a smile. you honestly never really knew. sure, cedric was super friendly toward you, a lot more than you saw him toward others, but you never thought anything of it.

"hm, i guess i haven't noticed." you said calmly, trying to keep your composure, meanwhile you were doing a little happy dance on the inside.

speak of the devil. as you uttered this, cedric and his group of friends walked into the great hall. he was laughing, his bright smile warmed your heart. you vaguely heard his musical laugh that brought butterflies to your stomach over the loud chatter of students.

him and his friends made it to their table that was a couple tables down from where you and hermione were sitting. he sat on the side of his table that was opposite of the side you were sitting on. he spotted you as he sat down and you both made eye contact.

"hi, y/n." you saw him mouth as he waved to you. the corners of your mouth curved up into a cheesy grin.

"hi, cedric." you mouthed back as you waved to him. hermione acknowledged your little exchange and raised one eyebrow at you.
