No windows, no doors, not a single crack in the wall as far as I can tell. I had woken in this white room minutes or hours before – time seemed to have stalled – and hadn't heard a sound. If this was a dream, it wasn't like anything I'd had before. No, this was very real. All at once the white walls faded away and I was lying in a hospital bed surrounded by two people in suits.
"June Parsons?" Asked a woman in a suit. I nodded. "My name is Olivia Hansing and this is my associate Zayn Thatchell–"
"Love your doughnuts by the way. 10/10." Said the young man standing next to Olivia. He took another bite of one of my pastries and I smiled. He liked them.
"We're detectives with the uh... government." Olivia continued. "We'd like to ask you a few questions about your attacker."
"A-Attacker?" I mumbled, still unsure if this was a dream. "Huh?"
"You mean you don't remember this morning?" Zayn asked looking over at Oliva.
"This morning? I remember mixing the doughnut batter then... something happened. I think I was interrupted." I thought back to my morning. "Yes. There was a little girl. She looked terrified. Is she here?" Olivia and Zayn locked eyes once again.
"There was a girl with you?" Olivia asked.
"Yeah, she said something about a man following her." I gasped. "She said he was going to kill her! Is she okay?"
Olivia looked uncomfortable. "Well uh, she... um, she – she'll... w-we'll leave you alone now."
"Don't worry June, we'll find the girl." Zayn said while following Olivia as she walked out the door. "And great doughnuts." He shut the door behind him.
Whatever is going on, I don't like any of it.
