Laying in my bed, I get an urge of motivation that washes over me.Yup, todays the day I get a proper job.
Seeing that help wanted ad in the newspaper spark something strange in me the other day, living in my parents house has been the easiest but with the shit I've been living with, it's difficult to find the energy.
Not sure why today is any different but thinking about the nature that I'd be surrounded by at this place would not only help me but also shit my parents up for a bit. After taking a deep breath, I step into my shitty, run-down car, making sure I have the things I need, and I'm off.
My parents finally made the decision recently to move out of our old neighborhood... like half way cross the country away. Goodbye to everything I used to know of course, my parents warned me it'd only be a matter of time and that I should move out beforehand, needless to say I wasn't capable of doing that.

"Hello! I'm here for the job interview- no that's weird... I'm here for the job...? That's so boring." As I start to sigh it turns into screaming alongside my blaring music.
Pulling up to (what I assume to be) the right address, I park my car and I'm immediately greeted with the largest, most hopeful eyes I've ever seen. Funny to see an adult so unfazed by the cruelness of the world.
"H-Hel-"
"Well howdy newby!!!!" the man exclaimed with a grin, hands in the air and everything.
"You must be the one who called my dear co-counselor Gwen about the job application! While personally I'd LOVE to add on to our AMAZING camp, we'll need to get you through the interview first!" Still grinning and I have yet to say a single word. I smile back knowing he's trying his best and reply the best I can, "Thanks! Can't wait to get to it."
"OF COURSE!! OH! Where are my manners, my name is David!" Sticking out his hand, I grab to awkwardly shake it.
"I'm Rowan haha."
This is absolutely terrifying... But I'm willing to go through with this.
"Okay~! If you'll have a seat here Rowan, we'll be able to get this done in a jiffy!" He won't ever stoping smiling, and I can't help but try and match his energy with just as big, but way more awkward of a smile. The seats creak as we sit down at a small wooden table... With what I didn't expect, no papers or notepads... This'll be fine right?
He begins with the basics:
"So! This is gonna be less of an interview and more of a get to know you~! How are you with children first and foremost?"
Not the best but, "I'm alright with them! Used to be a child myself so at least I know what to expect haha."
"Perfect! How many activities are you familiar with?"
"I'm into the arts to a good degree, and generally have an interest in most subjects, and occasionally I'm able to get competitive."
"Now THAT'S the kinda attitude we like around here! Do you enjoy nature and how often do you go camping?"
Predictable questions are the best "Well, for the majority of my childhood summers I got sent off to a summer day camp, but as for actually camping, not that many times, sorry."
"Oh! No need to apologize Rowan! Not like I'm gonna bite!" He briefly leans in, "Or am I? HAH! Just kidding I won't!"
I stare blankly before forcing yet another smile. While this "David" character is over the top, he seems to be capable of being alright, although I'm not sure yet if this is someone I can actually hang out with for prolonged intervals of time. Surely that might kill me actually. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on that one for now.
