The floor underneath the fight jolted upwards, throwing everyone off of their feet as the ship scraped across the dirt, bobbing in all directions as it finally skidded to a stop.
Plumes of dust rose as coughs filled the air. The sun peeked over the horizon, lightly tinting the early morning sky it's usual bright blue.
"...Am I dead?" a voice grumbled to no one in particular.
He sat up, rubbing his throbbing head. If he was feeling pain, then-- he gasped. "WE DID IT-- WE'RE ALIVE!!" the blue ninja cheered at the top of his lungs.
Lloyd pushed himself up to one knee, brushing the stray hair from his vision before returning to his feet. "Is everyone alright?" he called into the dust.
Through the settling clouds and thanks to the sun, he was easily able to spot his teammates picking themselves up.
"I am alright" "I'm good", the ice and fire ninjas replied simultaneously, to which Lloyd sighed in relief. Within a minute or two, everyone regrouped together... all except one. Kai waved the dust away from his face, wincing through his limited vision. "Where's my sister?" he grumbled.
Zane's eyes flash a cyan blue as he took a moment to scan the group's surroundings. He concludes his scan and shook his head, turning back to the team. "She doesn't seem to be on deck... and neither is Medine."
"Nya went ahead to stop her in the control room," Jay said.
Faint footsteps grow into frantic stomping as someone approached the balcony from inside, gripping the railing and calling out, "Is everyone okay?!"
"We're okay!!" Lloyd responded.
The dust is blasted away by a gust of magic, and upon recognizing the person, Lloyd immediately regretted speaking up. Medine scoffed, evil eyeing him and his team. "I wasn't talking to you, idiot."
Her gaze shifted to her brothers, who appeared alive and well. Cole appeared unharmed, too. Medine sighed to herself in relief.
"Where's Nya? What did you do to her?!" Jay demanded as his now-drawn nunchucks surged with lightning.
Medine returned her attention to the ninja as her frantic expression faded. In her hand, she held Nya's katana and lifted it to show the ninja. "Nothing much, I promise." She dismissively tossed the sword off the balcony and let it clatter to the deck below. "Trust me, you'll need the extra weapon."
Fearing the worst, Kai scanned the sword for any red stains on the blade. Thankfully, there weren't any. So what exactly did Medine do?
The door from below deck swings open, and Wu and Misako step out, confused.
"Sensei," Zane turned to them briefly, "Are you and Misako okay?" Wu nodded while Misako shrugged. "We could have joined the fight sooner if the ship were... well, steadier."
"There isn't going to be much more of a fight, because it's about to be finished right now." Medine swiftly twisted her hand, fingers curling into her palm, using magic to call her microphone back to her from wherever it was before. She exchanged glances with her brothers, who instantly caught on to what she was thinking. It was the perfect opportunity to try this again.
Upon feeling a surge of energy spring to life beside him, Kai glanced to his right and noticed Lloyd creating a ball of energy behind his back. He looked at his face, who was fixed on Medine, noticing something he didn't. The second Kai's gaze landed on Medine himself, her voice, followed by her brothers, filled his ears. The hellish euphony of voices surrounded him once again. Kai's body fell to its spell and froze in place. Lloyd's energy sphere flickered as he winced against the noise. No... Not again...! Kai grit his teeth and fought for himself to move.
