London

Shopping square

England

All she wanted to do was to run away. Forget about everyone. And that was exactly what she did. Sophie together with a boy named Eric and her best friend Madison walked down an expensive shopping part of London. She had just showed up at their school and the next day attended, a scholarship covering all her needs. It was around three months since she had magically appeared and it was now summer. Eric and Sophie were going out, but she didn’t want the relationship to go any further.

“Hey lets go into that shop.” She said while laughing off her best friend trying to eat a hot dog for the first time in her life. Giggling they entered the shop. “Hallo, what may I help you with?” A nice woman with grey hair and golden earrings, wearing a black business suit asked. The bags they were holding was let down on the floor, walking in high heels while holding the stuff they had bought began to be heavy.

“We would like some shoes.” Madison said, like she had gotten drunk by eating a hot dog. Sophie nudged her in the shoulder. “Hey Mad, it isn’t alcohol.” She joked, looking at the half eaten hot dog in her hand. “Oh..” She said, turning a few shades pinker. Eric had to cover a laugh with one hand. He twirled a hand around her waist and hugged her tighter to him, but she got out of his grip, pretending she was looking at some beige high heels. She could see the look Eric was giving her from the back of her head, desperate. If only he knew who she was.

A girl with bushy hair was standing there from the doorway, gaping at her. Her aunt and uncle who were running the expensive shop had given her a summer job. Sophie turned around and gaped at her to. “Hermione?” She said astonished to see her here. But Hermione couldn’t speak. Sophie a death eater was standing in the middle of a muggle shop, with people looking very much like muggles. “Hermione?” Sophie asked a little more concerned and waved a hand in front of her face. Hermione didn’t know if she should take the risk and take out her wand when it was so many people watching her or not. Before she could think it out very much further, Madison approached her with a pair of to tall high heels. “Her do you have these in 37?” She asked. Unconsciously Sophie rolled her eyes at her. “Are you really going to walk in those?” She asked raising one eyebrow. “Madison, I think if you walk in much higher heels than what you do now, your feet are going to brake.” Eric said mockingly from where he was sitting from the couch, waiting for them patiently. Sophie figured it would only look strange if she stood there gaping at Hermione when others came in the shop. Sighing she let Madison continue her shopping and sat down next to Eric.

One again he tried to get closer to her and in reality she wanted him to. Yet she kept him away, reminded of the world she once belonged to. She couldn’t risk his life. Her happiness wasn’t worth it. That same night Eric, Sophie and Madison decided to sneak into a bar. While Madison flirted with the guard, Eric turned to her. “Look Sophie why can’t we be together?” He asked, his sweet smile melting her heart. “Because I can’t.” She said, turning away when he tried to kiss her cheek. “Please?” He begged, but she interrupted him by pretending to be happy about being let in. Eric sighed and fallowed behind. The laud music banged in their ears as Madison became wild with the alcohol. Sophie had never enjoyed drinking and stayed away, while Eric only took a bear. Knowing Sophie didn’t like him drinking too much. “They found an empty corner of the bar and sat down. “Look please Soph just listen. Is it because of sex you don’t want to be with me. Because I am not that kind of guy. I’ll wait for you and I promise I will never ever dream about pushing you.” He said, looking into her eyes. Sophie wanted to scream ‘yes, yes, yes’ but gritted her teeth together and swallowed the burning to do so. “I just can’t.” She said. Eric looked hurt. “I’ll wait for you, how long it ever takes for you to realize that we belong together.”

“I-I have to go.” She said and got up, hurrying out the bar. It was chilly outside, even if it was summer. She put the jacket further around herself and began wandering the streets of London by herself. She stopped, looking up at the sky. Oh how much she wished she could be with him. Suddenly a man came to view. It made her gape. In front of her stood Dumbledore. “Good evening.” He spoke kindly. “Wow.” Sophie blurted. She had been so used to the muggle world that seeing Dumbledore apparated in front of her still was amazing. “Sophie do you know why I am here?” he said calmly and gestured for her to move along with him. Thinking it wouldn’t hurt she fallowed. “No, not really.” She said, but had a faint idea. “I need you to come back t Hogwarts with me.” The headmaster spoke seriously. “No.” She denied sharply. She had a much better life now, with friends. “It is important for you to get your education.” He said, but Sophie shook her head and began walking away from him. “You won’t only risk your life, but your friends as swell if you stay.” This made her stop dead in her tracks. She twirled around to look at him. He nodded. “Yes, I am afraid so.”

She looked at her choices, where the road crossed. She could stay with her true friends or she could go with Dumbledore. Sighing she nodded, giving the bar a second glance. Dumbledore extended his arm and she took it. With a crack they were both gone.
