It's been days since buck has been under. They were able to remove the ecmo and see if he starts making improvements.
You sit by yourself outside the hospital for some air and you see may come over and sit with you.
May: hey you ok?
Y/n: I'm doing ok. What's up you ok?
May: for being a step sister even you can't lie to me.. I know you're worried..
Y/n: yeah i am.. I love him so much
May: I know you do I'm glad you have someone like him and he's really lucky to have someone like you who's out here waiting for him.
I love you y/n and I'm happy to have you as a sister.
Y/n: I love you too may I'm always here for you.
May: so when are you going to tell me what this baby is?
Y/n: we actually don't know yet it's going to be a surprise.
Just then Maddy calls you on the phone to tell you they're going to be taking buck off the ventilator to see if he can breathe on his own
Y/n: I'm coming ill be right there!
They're taking buck off the ventilator.
May: go in there stay calm okay he's going to be okay.
You rush into the room where you see Maddy and her parents Maddy reaches out for you to hold on to you she's so nervous she can barely look at buck while he's laying there.
Maddy: so this is it huh.. the moment
Y/n: he's going to be okay I know it he has to be.
The doctor comes in and greets you all and explains what she will be doing with the ventilator removing it and waiting to see if he can take a breath on his own.
You watch as they disconnect tubes and remove them from him and he lays in bed now fully disconnected from the ventilator.
Your stomach is turning hoping for him to take a breath you gave tears running down your face watching.
The doctor says his oxygen is dropping and says that if he dosnt take a breath within the next few seconds she will have to reconnect him to the ventilator.. you all watch and hope for the best and out of no where buck takes a breath on his own.
His mother cries out in relief and you all come together in happiness that he took his breath.
Maddy: let's go tell the others
She hugs you tight
I knew he couldn't leave I knew it
You both walk into the waiting area and greet the team and tell them that he took a breath on his own and is doing okay they all are so relieved and happy that he will be recovering soon.
