Hello Kuri here and I'm here to assist you with book planning, I know I have a horrible habit of just spilling ideas out on a page but that's not a good way to write a book. I'd say it was an amateur move. So I put the easy (or not so easy) steps to planning stories.
Steps to Planning Novels
1. Explain what your main goal is at the end, or the main points you want to focus on to achieve the story you want to initially explain or tell.2. Pick out steps to get to that goal and tinier and lesser important steps that you could add to your story.
3. Make each step a chapter and realize what the point of the chapter is to the goal, and how it affects the outcome.
4. Write to the best of your abilities on those focal points in the stories, and built to our storyline.
5. Reread for mistakes and parts that make no sense.
6. Give it to your brutally honest friends and see what they say about it and if they correct you on something that you should fix.
7. Redo number five, just with a fresh perspective.
