C h a p t e r   2

{Courage}

I woke up really early, already dreading the minimal hours of sleep that I will get. On top of that, I couldn't sleep at all last night, thinking about the first day of school. I went to the bathroom and did my morning routine. I put on my school uniform and decided to do my hair a bit more nicely than I usually do it. I curled it at the ends and swept my curtain bangs, making me have much more volume and curl in my hair. I looked at the mirror and smiled to myself before packing everything I needed in my backpack and headed downstairs. I had plenty of time to spare, so I decided to make toast and eggs for me, grandpa, and Alia. I quickly made the toast and eggs setting it out on everyone's plates. I put on my earphones and listened to some music. I suddenly heard a noise and looked up to see a sleepy Alia and grandpa patting her back. I smiled and took out my earphones. 

"Alia, you will get used to waking up early soon"

"Dtaa, maybe you can let me sleep for a couple more hours?"

"Nonsense why would you need to do that, when you can go to your new school"

Grandpa smiled at Alia before walking towards where I was sitting. Alia did the same and collapsed in one of the bamboo chairs beside me. She rested her head down on the table and closed her eyes.

"Wah, did you make this for us Aanya?"

I smiled and nodded, "Yeah I woke up really early so I decided to make breakfast. I can't always burden you."

He looked at me and kissed the top of my head, "maybe I should keep you here forever, your parents can visit too." He laughed and then woke Alia up.

Everyone ate their breakfast and grandpa dropped us off to the bus station. He smiled brightly and looked really excited for us.

"Have a great first day of school girls!"

We waved goodbye to him and sat in the middle of the bus. Most of the people on the bus were going to Köcher, so we got to see a couple of the students beforehand. I put on one of my earphones and gave one to Alia and we listened to songs on our way to school.

Alia ended up sleeping on the bus, making me wake her up. I shook her awake making her groan.

"Stoppp, I want to sleep some more."

"Alia we are literally at school come on...!"

I dragged Alia up, we thanked the bus driver and got out of the bus. We looked at the school, glanced at each other and smiled. As we went inside the school a couple people whispered things, probably wondering who we were. We went straight to the main office and saw a girl sitting there along with the principal.

"Oh they have arrived, nice to meet you girls, you must be Alia and Aanya?"

We nodded and sat down in the seats in front of the principal.

"We are so happy to have you here in Köcher, Jane here will give you two a tour of the school. Please enjoy your first day, and if you have any problems contact me or Jane."

The girl who was sitting down, got up and glanced at us before walking out of the room. We were confused, but decided to follow the girl, who we were guessing was "Jane". We followed her around as she gave a really bad tour of the school. We reached an empty hallway and she turned around her heels screeching the floor as she did that. It was the first time that I realized she wasn't in her school uniform. She smirked at me and Alia and gave us a fake smile.
