James x Regulus
Sirius x Remus
Remus' pov:
My finger stung as I replied. "Yes, obviously it hurts, Sirius, I got cut by the page of my book."
"Well sorry for making sure you're okay,"
"Look, just go back to the common room, why are you here, anyway?"
"Can I not just want to stay with my best friend while he studies?" The glint in his eyes clearly hinted at an alternative motive.
"You can, but you're holding your book upside down," I told him firmly. He was, in fact, holding the book upside down. "And you look like you're up to no good. What are you plotting?"
"Wellllllll," He draged the word out far more than was needed. "I may have figured out who my brother likes, and I have an idea to set them up."
"Oh? And who's this mysterious person you want to involve in your shenanigans?"
"Doesn't matter. First thing's first, we need to make a plan. I say we trap them in a broom closet. Or the Room of Requirements. Or an empty classroom."
I glared at him. "Who's to say this person likes your brother? What if they don't and you've trapped them in a room with him, and your brother is heartbroken?"
"All valid points," He agreed, looking at me with a mischevious grin. "Except that said person definitely likes my brother. I've seen the way they look at him across the Great Hall."
"Alright, fine." I told him. "What do we need to do?"
An hour later I was finished setting up the proper spells to lock them in until the magic detected a proper level of endorphines from inide the room.
Sirius came jogging up to me, holding a piece of parchment. "Alright," He started. "I told Reggie to meet me here in five minute for 'Urgent Family business'." Sirius dragged me behind a nearby suit of armour, and my heart leaped as I realized just how close he was. His lips were right in front of mine, and I wanted nothing more than to close that gap, but I resisted. That wasn't what we were here for. "And the other person should be here," Sirius pointed to a spot on the parchment, which now portrayed clearly the campus of Hogwarts.
As if on cue, a name scrawled itself right under his finger. "Ja-" I began, before being shushed by Sirius. "James? Seriously? James is the boy your brother's supposedly in love with? The same boy who's been in love with Lily since second year?" Sirius gawked at me.
"Okay, I thought you were supposed to be the smart one here. Have you not seen the way Prongs has been staring at him? Since summer it's been like this; I snuck off to his house at one point when my parents had friends over. Reg andI were supposed to stay in our rooms for the night, but they never found out."
"So, what? You asked him if he liked your brother and he said yes? That doesn't seem like J-"
"I wasn't done speaking," Sirius looked like he was about to strangle me. However, it was at that moment that James reached where we were hiding behind a suit of armour. Sirius put a finger over his lips, signaling him to be quiet.
Not seconds later, a boy I recognized to be the brother of the boy beside me, made an appearance. Sirius jumped out from the armour, probably giving the poor boys a heart attack, and shoved them in the room they'd set up.
"Alright," I said as I followed him to where he stood. "Care to explain how, exactly, this scenario played out and lead to you to locking your brother and our best friend in a room together?"
"Where were we? Right- Prongs' house. So, Reg and I showed up at his front door, and right off the bat I could tell something was wrong. He was being quiet- and he was staring at the floor. Not normal Prongs behavior, right?"
"Okay, and how does this lead to where we are now?"
"I'm getting there, Merlin, patience."
"Says you,"
"Yeah- says me." He left no room for further debate as he continued his story. "Anyway, so later we went to a nearby muggle pool, and he kept staring at my brother, somehow managing not to get caught by Reggie, however I did see it. When we went home, the two of us went into his room, and Reg went to get changed into his normal clothes, however, he somehow managed to forget them at the pool. So he wound up walking into the room we were in with only a towel on, and James went red. Like, beet red. When I tried to ask him about it later, he feigned not knowing what I was talking about, though he clearly did know."
"Okay, but that's only one instance. How do you know it wasn't just a weird day?"
"Because," The level of sass in his response was painful. "Ever since, he's been staring at the Slytherin table during meals. And he keeps staring at my brother whenever he's neaby. It's so obvious, I can't believe you didn't piece it together."
"But-"
"Shut up already and listen. I want to know what's going on in there."
