________"Peyton..." I whispered, slowly letting my arms uncoil from my body. My sister gasped and clasped her hand around my arm. Crying out, I crumbled back to the ground. Peyton collapsed beside my beaten frame.
"A-Ally, you need to shift." Her voice was hushed and broken. A soft whine left my throat as she reached over once more. Her warm hands gripped my arm and pulled me to my feet.
Pain flooded my body and I let a sob out through my quivering lips. Trembling, my sister guided me through the kitchen and towards to door to our house. My heart raced from the pain and fear of running into pack members.
Peyton rubbed my forearm to help calm me down. The wolf inside was an omega and that wasn't ever going to change. At least not for awhile. My sister slowly released my arm from her grasp. Wobbling, I stood in front of her.
Blinking my eyes, I watched as my sister slowly let the wolf inside of her take control. She shifted into her wolf, stretching the muscles in her legs. Her dark blue irises turned to me.
I know what she was about to do. The dark colored wolf tested the air and lifted her muzzle to the sky. She let out a low howl, calling my wolf to the surface. I could feel her fight against me, trying not to let go of the control she had. However, she failed and soon enough my wolf surfaced and took control.
I shifted, my bones snapped and reshaped, forming themselves into my wolf. My scream of pain soon became a howl as my body completed the transformation. It was recommended that werewolves should shift once a week so that our transformations wouldn't be so painful.
Due to my omega rank, my father refused to let me shift. This was the first time I became my true self in a month. Seeing my white wolf in the reflection of my sister's eyes seemed to lift my spirits. Shaking out my fur, I bark and licked her cheek.
That's when the chase started. Peyton nuzzled against me before taking off into the trees. My wolf barked and chased after her. The wind blew through my fur as I ran. We ran for awhile, stretching our legs. After we ran, we slowed to a stop. I panted softly as Peyton laid down on the grass.
We stayed like this for a few minutes before my ears perked up from something I heard. Peyton scrambled to her feet as the sound of thunder blared through my ears. I whimpered and lowered into a submissive position. A gray wolf came into my view as I laid flat on my stomach.
The gray wolf growled and shifted. "Get back to the house." The voice of my father sounded in my ears.
Pain was what I woke up to. A few stray tears left my eyes as I lifted my shirt. Along my side was a nasty looking bruise. It was a bluish purple bruise that looked to be bleeding under my skin.
Whimpering, I rolled onto my other side and stumble to my feet as I got up from the bed beneath me. I hoped that a shower would help my body heal, I limped towards the bathroom. My father only allowed me to shower in the mornings before he work up.
My handed turned the knob for the door and opened it. Holding onto the door, I stumbled inside the room before closing the door. I flicked the lock over with my fingers as I made my way to the shower. Reaching my hand out, I twisted the nozzles and turned the water on.
After a few moments, the water was to the temperature I wanted it at. Slowly, I inched my shirt off and uncovered multiple bruises along my body. Taking a deep breath, I whispered to myself. "This is for Peyton."
Peeling the rest of my clothes of, I breathed heavily and stepped into the shower. The rush of warm water sprayed my legs and soon my entire body as it moved into the shower.
Once I was finished with the shower, I turned the knobs off and climbed out. I wrapped a towel around my body and sneaked my way out of the bathroom and to my bedroom. My feet dragged me towards a small dresser pressed against a wall. I bent over slightly since my side still hurt.
Pulling out a black button up shirt and a red skirt, I slipped them on after my undergarments were on my body. I checked my clock, and yelped. I rushed down the stairs feeling immense pain through my body but I ignored it. Grabbing a piece of paper and pen, I wrote a note to my sister telling her that I left early to get to school.
It had been an hour before I reached the school. Walking into the mundane building, my feet led me towards the locker I called my own. The engines of cars filled my ears uproar of cars and trucks came from the parking lot.
Plucking my English textbook and folder from my locker, I darted towards my first class and plopped down in my assigned seat. The bell rang and class started, slowly the seats around me started to fill up with tired looking teenagers. Lowering my head, I listened silently as the teacher started the class. An hour later, the bell rang as the class poured out of the room in a hurry.
I followed my usual routine, going to my locker to get the books I needed for my next class. Once the books were in my arms, I headed towards my next hour. The most intoxicating scent of rain and pine flooded my senses when I turned a corner. I could feel my wolf awaken inside.
'Mate!' My wolf howled in happiness.
After she spoke the word I have been waiting to hear for years, I felt happiness flood my body. My wolf guided me through the halls of the school in search for our mate. Stopping at a corner, I looked at the backside of my mate. His hair was black which complimented his toned skin. My mate slowly started to turn around as I looked up to his face. He glanced up and down my body, his eyes registering love, lust, and adoration. Once his eyes landed on my face, those emotions drained from his eyes, replaced with a venomous look of disgust. He eyed his surroundings, in what one would assume was the search for nearby pack members.
"Let's get this over with." He glared at me when his eyes landed back to me. That's when I noticed who he was. Weston Hayley was my mate. A low growl passed his throat as he neared me. "I hope this hurts, omega."
"I, Weston Hayley reject you, Allison White as my mate and future beta female." He growled. My eyes widened in horror as I stared at him. My mate had rejected me.
"Weston! Please don't! I'm your mate... you can't do this to me." I sobbed to him. Tears fell from my dark eyes as a group of people started to surround us.
"You are not my mate." I could feel my heart breaking from his rejection. My dream, my hope, it wasn't going to happen. No one will help me. I can only try and help myself.Weston turned and walked away leaving the pack members and me alone in the hall. The sound of the pack's laughter was enough to show me that I didn't belong here. My books collapsed in my arms. Everything hurt so I ran. The howling from my wolf told me that she was hurting just as bad as I was. Pushing the doors open with strength i could muster, I shifted. I had to get away from everything. From this pack, from my mate, from my life. I wanted to start a new life, miles from this one.
