Waking Up

〰️〰️➰〰️〰️

Opening my eyes I was greeted by the sight of blondie sitting at my feet. Groaning I tried sitting up but failed.

The female shadowhunter from Pandemonium rushed over to. "Be careful, don't rush yourself." She ordered holding onto my arm.

"You're sitting on my foot." I croaked. My voice was horse and low. It took him a few seconds before he gasped and stood up, allowing me to sit up straight.

"How you feeling?" The brunette asked.

"Good. Who are you?" Judging from the interior, we're in the New York Institute.

"I'm Isabelle and that is Jace." Isabelle introduced a smile plastered on her face.

"Where's my katana?" I asked noting it's not on me.

"You mean this? Interesting weapons." Jace says as he holds up the hilt of my katana.

"Thanks." I mutter grabbing the hilt from him.

"How's Clary?" I ask seeing her two beds across from me.

"She's doing good. No negative signs." Isabelle replied glancing at Clary.

Nodding I stood up only now taking notice of my attire. An over sized black T-shirt, that reached my mid thigh.

"Do you have clothes I can borrow?" I ask turning to look at Isabelle.

"Of course. I got this for you." She grinned handing me a pile of clothes.

"Thanks. I'm keeping it."

"Okay." She agreed caught off guard.

I'm not good with people so I try to be blunt not to confuse them.

"Okay." She nodded laughing.

"Mind telling us who you are." Jace asked rhetorically cocking his head to the side.

"Ariella."

"Yeah. We know." The black haired guy from the other night sighs walking in.

"That's my brother Alec." Isabelle say shooting him a look.

"Well since you know who I am. Can I go." I ask. This is the longest I've talked to anyone since I was seven.

"Hold on. You're a shadowhunter that showed up out of nowhere. We can't just let her walk." Alec exclaimed the last part directed at Jace and Isabelle.

"Look, I'm only here to protect Clary. Jocelyn was taken and our loft is in ruins. I'm just gonna get some of my things. I'll come back." I understand they can't do what they want, they have rules. I'm not gonna let them break them for me.

"I'll go with her." Jace suggest trying to convince Alec.

Sighing Alec shook his head and left.

"That's a yes." Isabelle say.

"Common let's go."

"So, how come you know about the shadow world but not your sister?" Jace asked as we walked through the apartment.

"I'm older than her."

"So?"

"It means I was born before Jocelyn ran away."

The place is a wreck. Walking over to my room I kicked the door in. I had a security lock but the keypad is melted.

My room is untouched looking the same as I left it. Going to my closet I grabbed two bags, starting to throw in all my clothes and shoes.

Jace walked around my room looking through some books that laid on my desk.

Walking past him I grabbed my books shoving them into the back pack that was on the chair. Throwing all my markers, pens, pencils, ect into a pencil bag. Placing it along with my hair brush into the bag. After I closed the bag I threw it onto the bed along with the two duffel bags.

"You like to read." Jace asked following me to the bathroom down the hall.

"Yah." Putting my bathroom necessities into a bag I headed back to my room, Jace hot on my tail.

"You don't talk much do you." He asked.

"I gave up on people listening." That made him shut up.

Placing the back pack on my left shoulder I swing one duffel bag over my right. The last one I threw at Jace.

We're going the same way he might as well help.

Picking up my phone that was on the bed side table, we left.

Once we got back to the institute we informed Alec that we were back and Jace showed me to a bedroom, now mine.

Now I'm busy unpacking. Isabelle offered to help but I declined.

Jace told me I was out for two days which is surprising since the demon cut was pretty deep. Then again it wasn't my first time being bit by a demon.

Memories replayed in my head. Jocelyn ruined my life. Sure it wasn't perfect but she made me a shield for Clary, a guard. I went through hell because of that.

I had hoped she was just scared and didn't know how to act in the beginning but when she tried to take my memories of dad, that was the day I stopped calling her my mother.

I know Valentine isn't a good man but he's still my father nonetheless. He never harmed me. Jocelyn has.

It's dark outside probably around 10. I am sitting on the steps outside of the institute with my vape.

"You know smocking is bad for your lungs." Turning my head I see Jace walking towards me.

"Who wants to die with healthy lungs." This caused him to let out a laugh.

"What do you want?" I ask as he sits next to me.

"Nothing."

We stayed like that for another hour or so before going to bed.
