Zenitsu leans on Uzui's shoulder, crying quietly as Uzui sits there uncomfortably. He's never had to comfort anyone before. Nobody cried around him, so he never had to worry about it. But now, Zenitsu is crying next to him.

"Should I offer him some sort of comfort?" He thinks to himself. He slowly turns his head to look at him. He's an absolute wreck. The area around his eyes is puffy and red. His cheeks are wet with oncoming tears. His lips are wet with saliva and snot is dripping from his nose. Gross. Why is this his job? Wasn't he only supposed to watch over the kid?

Uzui grimaces as Zenitsu starts to stand.

"You don't enjoy being around me, right?" Uzui raises his brow, watching as he trudges over to the door. "I can hear it in your sound." He admits, cupping his ears.

"That's-"

"Please," he starts, voice faltering as he opens the door. "Please get out." Uzui does as he's told and leaves. It's not like he and Zenitsu are close... right? It's only been a week since they met.

Zenitsu softly shuts the door. Uzui stands facing it as if it'll magically open again. He turns and stands next to it. This is what he's supposed to do. Watch over him, make sure he doesn't escape. He's a stupid kid, nothing to worry about. He'll toughen up as time goes on. He's childish and just needs a bit of refinement. What his Ojii-san did to him is perfectly fine. Punishment was necessary. He needs to be reprimanded for being so impolite and speaking when others are.

Even knowing all these facts, why is it still bothering him so much? Watching Zenitsu's face as his Ojii-san slapped him, there's no doubt he was surprised. But Uzui had a feeling that wasn't the first time he had been hit. Zenitsu always flinches whenever his Ojii-san is around. He gets degraded often and told off whenever he wants to say something. He always seeks a compliment or praise of some kind. He often apologizes.

Uzui sighs and crosses his arms, a scowl on his face.

It doesn't matter. Getting close to him is off-limits. Relationships are off-limits. Any sense of closeness must be broken at all costs. Getting close is bad for both Zenitsu and him. Stay far, far, far away from him.

Zenitsu peeks out his window. He knows Uzui is right outside, which is a bit of an obstacle right now. Today is the day when he meets kids to teach them how to read. But he can't sneak out when Uzui is on the other side. But he can't tell the kids that he's being held captive, which he is, technically.

Zenitsu makes a daring decision to bolt out the window. He hears Uzui open the door as he jumps out. Zenitsu huffs and begins to run, his shoes making a tapping sound as he darts across the cobblestone. He makes it to the wall and quickly climbs over it. He jumps off and starts to make his way over to the spot he meets them every time. He doesn't care if he gets caught in the middle of teaching them how to read. He just wants these kids to grow up being educated, and smart, and eventually become something more than what he is. He wants them to be free. He doesn't want any child to be like him.

He finally makes it, lungs burning and beads of sweat forming underneath his bangs. He sees the kids are already there and he smiles.

"Zenitsu-sama!" They all scream, running over to embrace him into a group hug. He crouches down to their level, patting each of their heads.

"I'm sorry I'm late! I was caught up with something. I brought some new books and spelling books today, are you ready?" They all cheer and sit down on some blankets they set up. Zenitsu sits cross-legged in front of all of them, pulling out 5 copies of the same book. He notices one of the kids struggling to write something down, then, he looks at the other kids' faces, they're all stuck on the same page.
