Chapter 3: The power of Haki

I found him, I found Vice-Captain (Y/N), hes still breathing!

It was a cold day, my eyes slowly opened to the sound of rain crashing against the hard wooden roof above me. By my side was a pale shell with a black shell and a red line travelling through a circle on the shell, every second it would make a beeping noise and attached to it was a cable which was attached to the skin above my head. Only one of my eyes were open as my head was bandaged up and I felt pain travelling through my nerves, as I was looking around the wooden medical room I slowly remembered what had happened.

Why were the Revolutionaries at Logue town and what was that I saw in Sabos mind? I heard a voice saying something about a next of kin but I couldnt remember it too much as too much thinking slowly gave me a headache. My hand slowly made its way to my face as I heard the door to the room opening showing a doctor and Captain Smoker standing at my door.

Good youre alright, I was worried you wouldnt wake up after your scuffle with Sabo the Emperor My captain said as the doctor walked over checking the wires attached to my chest.

Alright the Heart Monitoring Den Den Mushi is still all intact. The doctor said as my eyes didnt move from looking at Smoker.

Where am I Captain? I asked slowly, still waking up from my slumber.

Youre on a ship travelling through the red line, were following the Straw Hats into the new world. Smoker said confidently as a tang of fright entered my mind.

The Red Line? Captain are you crazy what if a Sea King attacks us? I asked in fright as Smoker handed me some blueprints of a marine battleship.

Thanks to a new advancement made by Doctor Vegapunk the Sea Kings wont notice us due to us having a Sea Stone rudder. Smoker explained, seriously how smart is that Doctor Vegapunk?

That man never ceases to amaze me, they say he is technically more advanced then everyone by a whole century and that he is even working on mechanising Sea Beasts. I said to Smoker as he shook his head.

He may be smart but dont believe every rumour you hear, Captain Smoker sighed before looking to me Its good youre alive, youre one of the best navy-men we have on our squad. Smoker complimented as my face stayed stern.

Im not though, if I was I wouldve been able to arrest Zoro and not be taken down by the Revolutionary Sabo. I said, my fists clenching as I remembered what Zoro had told me.

You wouldve had no grounds filing a report on your brother and Sabo is out of your league as you are right now. Smoker sternly said as I looked away, upset with myself.

I knowbut I dont know how to start, I said as I clenched my fists, the snails beeping getting more frequent My Devil Fruit is all I have and if I get unlucky Im useless. I scolded myself.

V-Vice Captain (Y/N), please calm down! The doctor said panicking.

I know how to start you off, Im teaching you Haki. Smoker said as I looked at Smoker confused.

What is a sport going to do for me? I asked looking at my superior.

Not Hockey, Haki. It allows you to use your bodys strength for different purposes. Armament Haki will let your punches be stronger, more defensive as well as letting you hit Logia users without the very specific conditions and Observation Haki will allow you to easily predict your opponents. Smoker explained as I looked at him wide eyed.

H-How havent I heard of this? I asked as he shook his head.

You probably have you just never realised, I will occasionally use it to hit you whenever you utilize a Logias power. Captain Smoker explained as I remembered a couple times Smokers fists looked pure black for a second during our spars.

Yeah, after you took on Zoro she caught up to me, if Dragon hadnt used his Haki she wouldve cut him and someone like that doesnt deserve to be in the low rank of Master Chief Petty Officer, if it was up to me I wouldve promoted her higher but I dont have permission to do that Smoker said with pride in his tone before leaving the room, my smile resting as the Den Den Mushis beeping slowed down to the steady rate it was at before.
