Rays POV>
Misery. That's the best word to use having to wait all weekend to see if the boy you love chooses you or not.
I hear a knock on my door and I quietly say "come in!" The door swings open gently and my mom stands in the door. Her long long hairs swept up in a bun per usual and she smiles kindly at me. "Hello Ray, I wanted to tell you that I have a last minute work meeting to go to. Just be good we'll I'm gone," she smiles.
I nod, she's always doing things for work. She works with kids from an orphanage or something like that. Green field Orphanage I think? Maybe Grace field orphanage? Not sure. She shuts the door gently behind her when she leaves. I sigh. I see an ant crawl across the floor. I look away, then back. When I look back I half expect it to be gone but it's still there. I lay on my bed, on my stomach. The house is so quiet I don't feel like I should even breath. I swear you could here a piece of dust floating around the house. Then the rumble of the car staring out fronts reminds me, you need to breath dumbass. I gasp for a breath.
I later decide to actually get up. What time is it? 2:12. Has anyone texted me? Nope. As the day drags on I keep checking my phone every so often, wondering if he's texted me. If
Norman's POV>
The sun beams through the window and o to the back of my head. I nervously pop my knuckles. I set my phone on the desk in front of me and take a deep breath. This shouldn't be this hard, I just need to send one damn text. I pick up my phone, and open it. Then I panic again and set it down on the desk.
I take a deep breath in, and out. I can do this. I open my phone and the messages between me and Ray. I type 'Hey, can we please meet up soon? I've made up my mind.' Delete. 'Can we meet at the park to talk?' Delete.
You know what? I'll go to his house. I'll knock on the door. I'll talk to him today. I'm not a coward. I slip on my shoes and tell my mom I'm leaving to visit a friend. I walk down the street and the wind howls as it blows through my short hair. At the same time the sun shines down on me, it's comforting in a way.
When I'm finally standing on his door step I almost turn away. As I breath in I knock firmly on the door two times. I put my arms behind my back and stare at my shoes as I wait. The door opens and he stares at me blankly. The wind blows into us and into the house.
We stand awkwardly, I wait for him to say something. He looks like he's going to but he just stares. Another gust of wind, even harder this time messes my hair up. "Sorry." He breaks the silence, his eyes seeming to flare back the reality "It's nasty weather, come in Norman." The sentence is kind itself but he says it feels like knife is stabbing at me.
I come in and he motions to the table. An old wobbly table that cries every time you even come near it. A blue and white vase full of glowing yellow daffodils sits in the center of the table. As we sit at the table opposite ends it protests and shakes the vase a bit, then it stops as we settle.
"Ray..." I whisper gently and the boy looks up to me and our eyes meet. "You. I love you,"
I laugh. "When I met you I knew I needed you. I felt pulled to you. I don't know why I didn't realize, you're not just a friend to me. It's like before I met you I was missing a puzzle piece I didn't even know was missing," I explain to him. At this point in standing, chair pushed back away from the table. He looks at me, "it's ok. I knew you'd come around idiot," he whispers back, tears streaming down his face as he smiles. I feel tears rolls down my cheeks to and we cry, then we laugh.
He stands and slowly makes his way to me. I wrap my arms around his waist. He opens his mouth to talk and I kiss him. "Idiot," he mumbles. "Your idiot," I reply.
