Daybreak had to be your least favourite time of day. Having a psychopathic killer targeting your friends didn't exactly make for an optimistic outlook either, your blanket was a tempting warm security.

On the floor below you Ethan's sleeping body slowly started to stir, you wanted to be as nonchalant as possible so you turned to face the wall. You pretended to be busy, it wasn't exactly hard as you succumbed to doom scrolling while hiding your phone beneath the blanket. That was until news about last night's attack and murder came onto your feed, sending your stomach through flip flops. The two faces of your former classmates flashed on your screen, giving you a sick feeling.

When you hear the bathroom door shut, you turn to place your phone on the nightstand, noticing Ethan already took his away. You wonder how he did so so quietly, perhaps trying not to wake you.

You groan at the time on your digital clock, as if angrily staring at it would make it go back. You rubbed your temples as you looked over your closet, suddenly what to wear was a big deal. You settle upon a black and white plaid skirt, straightening out the blanket on your bed you lay it there along with black stockings and a black cold shoulder top. Dark clothes for a dark day.

You look down at your outfit for the day, running your fingers through your hair to work out some tangles. The shut of the bathroom door startled you as you straightened up, almost forgetting about his presence.

"Good morning," his voice seemed more shy but you admired the sleepy look about him. You feel a little sad noticing his face receding behind his mask, perhaps timid to show vulnerability. Although, it was now broken and filled with cracks for you to peek through.

"Morning," you cross your arms, bringing a hand to your chin to hide your mouth, holding back your urge to chew on your nails "thanks for staying with me last night."

His eyes darted to his feet with a flustered smile "No worries, it's better to stick together."

"Yeah," you nod "but I won't hold you hostage any longer. I have to take a shower, I assume you want to get ready for school too. With uh, fresh clean clothes and such..." you notice you're rambling and swallow a groan of embarrassment. There was a cute guy in your apartment that stayed the night and suddenly you didn't know how to act.

Your nerves seemed to give him some courage, you tried your best to not focus on his flexing muscles as he ran his hand back through his curls "yeah, I'm in need of a shower too. I'll see you on campus...?"

You look at him standing there, soft black long sleeve wrinkled from the day before, light brown messy hair clearly slept on. A sudden happiness overrode your nerves with a large grin "I look forward to it. I get out of class at 11am."

You grab your phone, opening up the contacts. You walk up to him, his face was slightly confused at first before the blood rushes to his cheeks as he realises what you're doing.

"Here, put your number in so I can text you," you offer it out, his cold hands take the phone entering his number in. The name he entered was plain and simple; Ethan. Yet reading it over made your heart race.

You walk to the bathroom "I'll see you later,"

"Yeah," his soft smile made your heart thump, you wondered if he felt the butterflies like you did.

You shut the bathroom door behind you letting out a sigh that reminded you of classic romance movies or tv. You shook your head to ground yourself, turning the warm water on and letting it run over your body. Suds of body wash and shampoo washed away the remnants from the night before but they lingered on your mind. It felt like maybe a week long of events condensed into a couple of hours.
