Arthur had been sitting at his desk trying to complete his work, but he knew he wouldn't be able to focus. He threw his quill down and leaned back with a sigh. He kept getting this urge to go hunting, and he finally gave in getting up to go let the knights know to get ready.

Once everyone had gotten ready and on their horses, they set out to the woods. Arthur still wasn't focused but tried to look as if he was searching for animals. They would normally be in their wolf forms for hunting, but this time was different, and it was like he had to be in his human form.

After a while, Arthur smelled the most amazing thing he's ever smelt. He stopped his horse immediately jumping off but telling the knights to stay put.

As he wandered off, he thought that maybe this was it. Maybe he was going to find his mate. On the other hand, he thought maybe the universe was playing tricks on him because it knew just how badly he wanted a mate.

He was still following the smell when something off to his right caught his eye. He walked towards it and realized that it was a fox. He could see that the fox could sense his presence and started to shake. The fox still hadn't looked up yet, but Arthur could tell that the smell was coming from him, and he knew what that had meant. He walked closer to the shaking figure and, without saying a word, gently picked the fox up. The fox all of a sudden looked up, and once their eyes met, Arthur knew his suspicions were correct. The fox had stopped shaking once their eyes locked and still wasn't looking away as if to make sure what he was seeing was real.

Arthur couldn't look away from the fiery orange eyes that were staring at him. He was so overjoyed that he didn't even know he was smiling until the fox looked down at his mouth almost admiringly. He took this time to get a good look at the fox. It had sparkling orange eyes, which were a contrast from its white fur. The tips of its ears and tail had been tinted orange. It had spots on the tip of its nose as well as its paws. Once he was finished, he finally realized how small the fox really was as it fit into his arms without him feeling like it was going to fall.

He realized the fox was doing the same thing when he finally looked back into the orange eyes that drew him in. He decided that he should probably talk to the fox even if he couldn't talk back.

"Hey." He said even though he knew it was probably really lame. The fox made a chirping noise back as if it was saying hello, to which Arthur just laughed. He still didn't know what to say. He thought about introducing himself to the fox, but that seemed somewhat awkward in his head as the fox wouldn't be able to reply. But before he could think about it more, his mind went back to the knights that would probably start looking for him soon.

He focused back at the fox, who looked at him questioningly. "Umm, this is kind of awkward, but would you want to go back to my place with me." But as he said the words, he realized that the fox might not be able to or might not want to. He grimaced at the thought of the fox not wanting to be with him before he continued. "I- I mean you don't have to if you don't want to but I would really like you to so I can get to know you but again you don't have to and I don't want t-" he was cut off by the fox licking his hand. The fox then looked at him and nodded, which in turn made Arthur smile. "Does that mean yes you will come with me?" He questioned but didn't have to think too long because the fox nodded his head. He let out a breath he didn't know he was holding once he saw this. "Thank you." He stated, looking into the foxes eyes. "We should probably start going because the knights might come looking for me if I'm gone any longer." As he said this, he realized the fox probably doesn't know who he is. "I never introduced myself, but I'm Arthur Pendragon, king of Camelot." As he said this, he noticed the foxes' eyes widening. So he quickly followed it with, "You don't have to be afraid I won't hurt you no matter what." The fox could only look back at him, hoping it was true.
