EXT. LERKIM - PRESENT - DAY

Cross dissolve from the sapling in Town Square to one growing in the desolate wasteland outside of the Lerkim. The Old Once-ler and Maddie step outside with a watering can in hand. They make their way over to the UNLESS stones where some small patches of grass are beginning to grow around the tiny Truffula tree. The Once-ler and Maddie carefully sprinkles water on a few saplings and smiles. Then, they hear a faint sound off in the distance. The same sound they heard when the Lorax disappeared into the sky years ago. They look up and sees the smoggy clouds beginning to part. A ray of sunshine falls upon them and a SWOMEE-SWAN swoops down from above. The amazed Once-ler and Maddie watch the bird fly by then turns to the UNLESS stones where they see-- The Lorax. Floating back down to the stones. Smiling. The Once-ler and Maddie can't contain themselves and LAUGHS IN JOY.

Lorax: You two done good, beanpole and dollface. You two done good.

The Old Once-ler and Maddie kneel down and gives him a hug. They separate and the Lorax looks into the distance.

Lorax: And look: Someone came back.

They look up to see Pippa on her scooter, making her way to the house. They stand up and watch as she parks near the house and runs over. She stands a few feet apart and smiles at them. They smile back with tears in their eyes. Pippa runs over to them and hugs them, happy to be reunited with them once again.

Pippa: Hey Mum. Hey Dad.

They smile, happy to hear their daughter call them that for the first time. They separate the hug and Pippa looks down at the Lorax. The Lorax smiles up at her. Pippa neals to him.

Pippa: Thank you for helping me

Lorax: No problem, kid.

Pippa smiles and hugs him. He smiles and hugs her back. They separate the hug and Pippa stands back up. The Lorax turns to address the Once-ler

Lorax: By the way, nice mustache.
