20th April 1692 6:28pmSoft weeps filled the small, enclosed room; heavy and somber. The girl held the boys face as she sat beside him on a low, creaky bed, "Everyday..." She weeped, "Everyday, I see you in sickness." The boys hands made its way to hers, unaware of the true meaning of what the girl was saying, "My dear, I promise, I shall be well soon." The girl's face screwed as she leant down placing her forehead against his, "Oh but you won't... my love." She whispered, her sweet voice flattened the room, leaving the air still.
Everyday, for years on end, Merida Carter sat beside her love's bedside. He lay the same position. He spoke the same words. He laughed at the same time. Everyday, for years on end, Merida Carter lived in a loop. Placing a soft kiss upon his lips, she pulled back, observing his face. Kind brown eyes, light freckles on his now pale skin and fluffy dark brown bangs. The girl cupped the boys face, realising what her fate was. "I must leave, David." She sobbed, the boys face softened, "You must know, I don't want to leave your side." The boy - in his weakened state - furrowed his eyebrows, this conversation was new. "You won't understand what i'm going to say." She girl explained, "But i need to know, in my mind - my heart - i had told you." The boy reached up, cupping the girls face; leaning into his touch, she knew she had to be quick as the time had nearly come.
"The loop is closing today." She pressed her lips together, "For your sake, my love. You won't be suffering no longer. No more pain, my dear." She paused, taking in the sight of the boy in front of her, she looked outside. The sun was setting, it was nearly time for two things... both would cause her heart to break. She spoke softly, "You must know, I'll never love another, how i have loved you." David nodded, beginning to understand in part what she was saying. If not the full story, he understood what was happening to him. "Oh, but you will. You will find another." He explained, slowly he reached to his neck, pulling a small chain from it, placing it in Merida's hands. Holding it there, the boy gave a soft, accepting smile.
Tears flowed down the girls eyes, "My dear... i will always love you." David smiled, as his eyes slowly began to close, the girl held his hands tighter as his lost the grip. "I'll find you again... in another life." Everyday, the girl had lost him, he would be back the next day. However, today was different, the loop was closing, he would never come back to her. A warm voice entered the room, "Come, Miss Carter." Miss Finch stood in the doorway, Merida turned slightly- her face red and cheeks stained with tears - the woman frowned. "So much heartbreak for a child..." The woman walked into the room, embracing the girl while pulling her to her feet. "But you are seventeen... i know it hurts now, and may forever... but you will find another."
The girl crumbled, her knees giving in from below her; breaths quickening, thoughts racing, tears falling. "I can't, Goody Finch... David-" Her voice cracked as she was dragged from her love and out of the door of their small cabin. The young girl knew it was eventually going to happen, Miss Finch and the other peculiars had been talking about it for months now. Miss Finch had made the loop in hopes that Merida could keep her love alive as well as herself; little did she know it was the day he would die. Over and over and over.
Pulled outside, the girl was a mess. Soon she was engulfed by her friends - other peculiars - who knew her pain. "Look up Meri..." A young girl, Abigail, said softly while holding Merida upright. Together the group looked up, watching at the afternoon sun reversed: midday, morning, dawn, midnight, dusk, midday, afternoon. Merida closed her eyes in acceptance, she looked over to her home, knowing he was in there; lifeless.
The loop had closed.
A/N: Hello everyone! I would love to introduce you to Merida Carter, our little peculiar in this story.
I would like to address that MPHFPC is not owned by me in anyway whatsoever, I just love the story and characters. Some characters such as Merida and David are my OCs.
I'd also like to address that the timeline may have shifted and I have of changed some details with the characters within MPHFPC, but none that will dramatically alter the storyline.
Also, with the time that Merida was born, she has been placed within Salem for some part of the story. I'm sorry if this upsets any readers and feel free not to read because of this small detail.Anyway with that, I hope you enjoy this story. x
