"Those two idiots are taking much longer than an hour." Zach says, clutching onto his stomach to withhold the pain. It was nearly midnight and I have classes to get to tomorrow morning.
Surprisingly, this little moment of what I initially would call awkward and unsettling turned out to be a fun one. Zach and I ended up conversing about our favourite spots in New York and talked a little bit about how I aspired to become a paediatrician.
It was weird to be making conversation with him, yet it felt right for all the wrong reasons. (I can't believe my conscience is telling me these things right now!) Before I even remember, Alex and Zander came whooshing through the door and directly to Zach, trying to place the brace and heat treatment on his back.
"Hm, you'll have to keep the brace on for a few days Zach." I say, whilst trying to place it on his (nicely toned) back. After 10 minutes or so, Zach was ready to go and it was about time I'd head for bed.
"Um, goodnight guys. I have classes tomorrow morning." I smile and walk towards my room, but I stop as I am interrupted by a quick 'thank you' from Zach. I smiled to myself and allowed my slumber to take over me.

Baby now we got Bad Blood...
I wake up, a bit startled by my alarm with "bad blood" by Taylor Swift playing. Being the lazy person I am, I shut it off and try to head back to sleep. However, the smell of pancakes, eggs, and some bacon awakes me. I love me some good breakfast.
I smile at the sight of Zach cooking breakfast at 8AM. Oblivious to my presence, he hums to the tune of Whatever Forever by the Mowgli's. Hm, he has an excellent taste in music. Clearing my throat, I startle him with a "Good Morning Maxston!" I laugh as he nearly drops the pancake he had on his spatula.
"Jesus El, you would've wasted that damn pancake." He smirks, placing the kitchen towel over his shoulder.
His shrivelled bed hair, baseball tee with his brace underneath was killing me slowly. Damn you Maxston and you're looks.
"Why are you up so early?" I say, taking a piece of the bacon he just cooked.
"You said you had classes today right?" He says, focused on his cooking.
"Er, yeah. At 9:30, why?"
"I thought it would be nice to drop you off." He admits, scratching the back of his neck.
His dark eyes met mine and I could feel the surface of my cheeks burning up. I'm blushing! That's cute. Did he really just wake up early, cook breakfast, and offer me a ride to UNI? Jesus take the wheel.
"Thanks Zach. I appreciate it."
"It's really nothing. I have to head to the ring to practice right after anyways." He nonchalantly says.
"What's this? Breakfast in the morning? Is this a result of something that happened last night?" Zander jokes around, wiggling his eyebrows as if Zach and I have got something to hide. Oh please.
Zach sends Zander a death glare, hinting that he keep his mouth shut.
"Yeah, something sparking up here?" Alex winks, taking a piece of the pancake with his hand. Zach simply smacks his hand and snatches the pancake from Alex. Boy is this kid protective over his food.
"Will you idiots shut up?" Zach smiles, passing a plate to me only.
"In case you didn't know Zachary, we were standing here too." Zander says, pointing to Alex and himself.
"Oh! Almost forgot about you." Zach laughs and finally hands them a plate.
I could get used to their company.
