The door slammed shut behind him and I flinched. A jolt of fear went through me. What was he planning on doing? I thought, worried. I pulled at the chains but they wouldn't budge.

I spent the next few hours worrying about my loved ones and wasting my energy trying to move the shackles, to no avail. Exhausted I rested against the wall of my cell, the cool rock a relief on my hot skin. I didn't know how much time passed when the cell door opened. I opened my eyes to see a woman standing there.

She was dressed like a maid. She was wearing the traditional black dress and apron. The woman held something in her hands and I craned my neck to see what she was holding. She sneered at me. "I don't know why Casper wants you alive. You are a piece of vermin," she hissed, malice in her voice. I winced from her choice of words and tore my eyes away from her.

The maid lifted something in the air and I lifted my eyes to see what it was. Immediately my stomach growled at the sight of food. Intense cramps clenched in my stomach, realizing that I hadn't eaten in a while. "You want it?" The woman smirked and placed the tray of food just out of my reach. "If you can get it you can eat it," she taunted before leaving the room, slamming the door behind her.

I struggled to get the tray of food. Most of it looked stale, but it didn't matter at the moment. My foot reached out, trying to grip the cold metal between my toes. Instead, to my dismay, I wound up pushing it farther away. After ten minutes of struggling, I heard the door open again. I stopped and drew back, spotting Lucian. He chuckled, amused by my struggle.

"That maid is a real bitch," he laughed, crossing his arms and leaning against the wall. I bit my lip and looked at the tray longingly. Another cramp made me spasm with pain and a soft whimper escaped my mouth. I was growing dizzy from lack of food and the vampire seemed to realize that. He sighed and then kicked the tray towards me. "Don't expect any more sympathy, Shifter," he added, his face twisted up in a mask of disgust as I gripped the tray with shaky hands.

I ignored the Shifter jibe, though I knew it didn't apply to me - it was merely an annoying reference. It was chicken noodle soup and a small piece of bread. It wasn't much but I was starving. I dipped a small piece into the soup and ate quickly, savoring every bite that I consumed. As I ate, the vampire continued to talk, though I tried to ignore his comments. Lucian was going on about how they should've killed me immediately, but he broke off suddenly. I lifted my eyes from the almost empty bowl of soup I was currently draining.

His eyes held a puzzled expression, but after a few minutes, his silver eyes lightened and I knew it wasn't going to be good news for me. His glazed over eyes shifted into focus and landed on me. There was a smirk playing on his thin, pale lips.

"King Casper found your family."

As soon as those words were uttered, I felt faint. I put the bowl down, my appetite gone. Don't let him hurt them, was my only thought. Lucian laughed at my dismay and fear and he opened his mouth to say something when the door opened. The same man as before stood in the threshold, his eyes glittering with amusement as he took in the scene.

"I assume you told her?" He asked, his voice like silk as he spoke. Lucian nodded. "You should've seen her face, my Lord," he said with a grin. I watched the exchange, fear gnawing the inside of my stomach away. A part if me was worried that I was going to be sick and lose all the food I had just gained. Casper, I'm assuming that was what his name was, turned his attention on me. "Lucian, leave," he ordered, his voice suddenly commanding though it was still soft.

Knowing not to cross him, Lucian left. Casper leaned against the wall, his arms crossed over his chest as his eyes scrutinized me. "Still not going to speak?" he asked after a moment and I shook my head no. "Would you like to hear what I found out about your family?" he asked. I paused, contemplating before I shyly nodded, looking down at my hands shackled together. A sharp laugh brought my attention back to him, who was now knelt in front of me. My eyes widened at his speed as his blue eyes bore into my own.
