The night was breezy and quiet, rays of moonlight that illuminates every corners of the forest, showing off millions of stars scattered across the dark sky, creating a beautiful bright shine, very perfect scenery to say. A perfect night indeed.
But not for this certain person, it wasn't an enjoyable moment. In fact, he felt as if the starry night sky was mocking him at this moment. Can't blame him, he was just really tired. He wants to lay down on his futon and dream about red beans mochi, his favourite sweets. And yet, he got a pile of work to do, which make him didn't get enough sleep these days.
Tap! Tap! Tap!
A silhouette under the moonlight shown a figure of man, who can be seen walking together with his fox servant. He was holding a pink cherry blossom tree paper lantern by his left hand, illuminates his path. A large hat with four upward-curving hooks along the circumference, and what seems to be his mask on the center (just liked Scaramouche's hat caused why not and i simping for him). Around under his hat hangs a white silk satin veil covered his face, not wanting to be seen by anyone. He wears a striped yukata kimono, along with the tabi socks and zori sandals. Beside his blue and black obi, hangs a crest resembling the Nobles symbol on it. His overall attire resembles traditional Japanese wear.
"Im tired, can we just go back to the shrine and have a rest? I deserved some sleep...", Shou sighed. He should've been sleeping at this hour, and yet still doing his night duty stuff.
I'm too old for this boring sh*t...
"Come on, Akira... Do you really wanna see me become crazy that bad, huh...", he whined.
"No Shou-sama, we have to keep investigate and inform this to the Mythical Police", Akira the gray fox, who was his servant replied, which made Shou groaned at him.
Shou yawned again and again until-
"F*ck this sh*t. I going back to the shrine", he cursed. Heck yeah, I'm already lost my patience! He turn back and walk away, his servant was to focus on the the patrol thing that he didn't even noticed he was gone.
"Shou-sama, you can't do that! You have to finish the job first-- SHOU-SAMA! WHY ARE YOU LEAVING ME ALONE?!YOU KNOW THIS FOREST WERE HUNTED RIGHT! SHOUUU-SAMAAA! ", Akira trying to persuade his master more. Not until when he realised that Shou already left him alone there. Yeah, he really did screamed, more like crying. Man, he was a scaredy-cat. Poor him...
***************************
Shou stopped walking on his track as he slowly turn his back to find out where that sound came from. He pointed the paper lantern to the left side of the forest, observing the surroundings with his sharp vision.
"....maybe i way too much sleepy even my brain start to hallucinate now", he mumbled, continues to walk. But, he hears that same sounds again--clear from before-
It's the sound of baby...
Baby's cries.
He fasten his footsteps, heading to where the sound was. And he stopped on his way again just to found,
A small basket, seemingly handmade, was covered by a cloth of fabric. He slowly approached the basket, out of curiosity. The baby's cries got louder as he got closer. The more he took a step, the more the cries got desperate and sad.
'Weird...this basket really did appeared out of nowhere...', he thought.
He then remembered when he was patrolling this area before with Akira a minutes ago, they found nothing. Besides, no one would goes into this hunted forest. If someone was here before, he would feel that, he's not that careless. He could've feel their's scent immediately if someone was there. This really weird...
