The next day, as Ji‑ah planned to visit Im‑dong North, In‑yeop asked her countless questions on the way. She answered them all with lies. She wanted the truth—about her past, about the words Kai had whispered into her ears. Some truths had to be faced alone.
After lunch, she drove toward Jeason Forest.
In‑yeop already knew where she was headed. Yet he stayed quiet.
Ji‑ah parked her car by the side of the main road. Stepping out, she shut the door behind her and stood still for a moment, drawing in a deep breath before entering the forest.
“Today will be the last day,” she whispered to herself. “So let’s go.”
Something felt wrong immediately.
There was no guard at the gate of Jeason Forest—Im‑dong North. The signboard hung broken, tilted as if even it had tried to escape. Ji‑ah checked the small booth where the guard usually sat. It was empty. No signs of struggle. No signs of life.
She tried calling him.
No answer.
Then she remembered the old couple she had met the previous day. Her chest tightened. Kai was capable of anything—he had already tried to harm her once. Panic crept into her veins.
She hurried down the narrow path leading to the old house. Sweat soaked her skin as her breath grew uneven.
When she reached the house, it was silent.
She knocked.
The door creaked open.
Ji‑ah rushed inside—and froze.
The house was empty. Furniture lay overturned. Clothes were scattered across the floor, torn and broken, as if a storm had passed through. She searched every corner, calling out softly, but there was no response.
They were gone.
Her instincts had been right.
“Kai…” she whispered bitterly. “Why are you doing this to me?”
She sank onto the floor, her strength draining away. With trembling fingers, she pulled out her phone and tried to call the police—but there was no network.
Stepping outside, she searched desperately for a signal. At the broken gate of Im‑dong North, a single bar flickered on her screen.
She dialed 199.
“Hello, this is Ji‑ah Park, calling from Jeason Forest. Someone I know is missing. Hello? Can you hear me?”
“Hello? Who is this? We can’t hear you properly,” came the distorted voice of a duty officer.
Then—silence.
The call dropped.
Ji‑ah clenched her phone.
“I don’t have time for this,” she muttered. “I have to find them myself.”
She pushed past the broken gate of Im‑dong North.
———
“I knew she would come,” Kai said aloud, his voice echoing through the shadows. “Not for me—but for you, old fools.”
The old man and his wife were tied tightly with thick ropes, their hands and feet bound.
“What the hell do you want?” the old man shouted.
“My dear…” his wife murmured weakly.
Kai chuckled softly. “You forgot already? Ah… I see. At your age, forgetting things is common, I’ve heard. How pathetic.” His smile sharpened. “All those chances to stay alive, wasted on growing old. Why didn’t you kill her and become young again?”
“I won’t do it,” the old man spat. “Whatever you do to me, I will never do that.”
“You’ve got some nerve,” Kai said, stepping closer. “We’ll see who wins in the end.” His laughter was cruel, almost playful.
Then he straightened, inhaling sharply.
A familiar scent lingered in the air—the same scent from the day he first met Princess Yuna.
He smirked.
“I’ll end this again,” he said quietly. “Again, she’ll fall into my trap. And this time… it will be even more fun.”

What Kai wanted most was to drown Hwang In‑yeop in guilt.
They were both born of monster deities—creatures bound by power and hunger. When time claimed them, they would become lust demons, driven mad by desire. And among all beings, they had found the rarest existence of all: pure blood.
Yet Hwang In‑yeop was different.
He knew how to control his power. He had learned restraint. Again and again, across lifetimes, he chose to protect his lover.
When Kai realized this—that In‑yeop would never claim her power for himself—his desire twisted into rage.
He no longer wanted to marry her.
He wanted her dead.
When he gets to know that, kai wanted to kill her instead of marrying her, his blood began to boil.
