*Mika's POV*
We head back to our table and sit down. As I glance to the clock right next to the entrance I realise that we sure talked for a while, not once speaking about the real purpose of todays meeting.
"As much as I enjoyed catching up with you Ela, we came here with a purpose. I assume you received the script already and went through it. "
"Right."
I am surprised at Mikels sudden change of tone. Given the time we haven't seen each other, it's of course only natural for us to change. But still, this side of her is very different from what I remember her to be.
"Let's go over it one by one, I have a few suggestions regarding certain scenes and I would like to hear your opinion on it."
As we read through the script and discuss different ways we could act the parts out I am quite astonished by her serious and focused demeanour. Despite that her eyes seem to sparkle with eagerness and excitement. My lips subconsciously turn into a subtle smile. I'm glad she enjoys what she's doing and found her passion.
Ever since we were kids I was the one who wanted to become a famous singer and worked hard for my dream to come true. She on the other hand never really was passionate about anything in particular, leaving her future in the open.
"I'll just do what I feel like doing. Someday I'll find the one thing I enjoy the most. Until then I will support you the best I can!"
That's what she always said, when I asked her about her dream. I guess she finally figured it out.
"I think that's it for today. Regarding your thoughts on the intimate scene I'll talk to my company as well, as I also don't feel that comfortable acting it out, up to this extent. I'm positive we'll be able to negotiate with the director, so just focus on preparing the script for now."
"Great. Thanks a lot."
As I smile at her, her expression gets more relaxed again and she stretches her arms seemingly exhausted after our talk.
"I never understood why there had to be a romantic relationship between the female and the male lead in the first place, if it is in fact an action movie. Shouldn't we be focusing more on the dynamics of our action scenes and leave out the sexual tension, which we'd have to forcefully create anyways?",
she exasperatly says as she leans forward again.
I hum in agreement.
This is part of why I dislike acting and the whole industry sometimes. The lack of freedom to express something you really want to show with your work. Instead you are met by the bars of capitalism locking you in a prison of well paid expectations.
"Men and women can have all kinds of relationships. Take us as an example."
I nod upsendmindely.
"Remember when we were 12 and you wanted to kiss me-"
I almost nod again, before I process what she is about to say. In a panicked matter I kick her feet underneath the table. When Chiro jumps up and shrieks grabbing her leg I realise, that I must have hit the wrong person by mistake.
"Oh, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to kick you. I apologise."
She looks up at me and shakes her head.
"Don't worry, it wasn't even that hard."
Her voice is calm and quiet, and her cheeks are covered in a slight pinky dust.
"No, really, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to-"
