*Ciel's POV*
I turned around to see that it was none other than Ruggie walking towards us with a smile on his face. I smiled and was about to wave towards him when my eye widen at the sight before me. The others were confused by my reaction as they looked too and had their jaws drop with wide eyes. What we saw was Ruggie carrying a lot of luggage with no trouble what's so ever, a skill from serving Leona it seems. Once he was near us, he stopped walking as we stopped staring with wide eyes.
"Ruggie? Wait, what's with all that luggage?! A backpack, three duffel bags, and a giant cooler..." Deuce trails off.
"Oh, this? Shyeheehee. I took all the food that was about to hit its sell-by date at the cafeteria and the school store. Since we're about to go on break, they gave 'em to me basically for free."
"Wow, you were very quick to get all the food." I said as I looked at the bags and cooler.
"For real? There's no way you can eat all that." Ace says in surprise as I shake my head.
"I'm sure the food isn't just for him, Ace." Ruggie nods in agreement as he looked at Ace.
"You'd be surprised. The neighborhood kids devour this stuff like, well...a pack of hyenas. Besides, gotta make sure my grandma eats well over the holidays. Speakin' of which, this frozen food ain't stayin' frozen for long. Gotta run! Smell ya next year!"
Ruggie waved as he quickly walks away towards the mirror so he can get home before the food gets bad. I waved back with a smile on my face, I'm very glad to see just how dedicated he is for others from his neighborhood and his grandma. After all, he did tell me about his home and the living condition there for the residences. I couldn't imagine being able to survive in a place like that for my whole life. I hope they enjoy the food Ruggie is bring during the holidays.
"There he goes... What was that about 'neighborhood kids,' though?" Deuce questions"You don't know?" I asked as he shakes his head
"Ruggie comes from a place where food is a bit scarce. So whenever school lets out for a long break, he stocks up on all the food he can get and shares it with the local kids." We turn our head to see that it was Jack with his luggage and a planter in hand.
"What about you, Jack? What's with that planter you're hauling? You taking up gardening or something?" Ace asked as I looked at the plant I never seen before.
"Woah, what kind of plant is that?"
"It's a cactus I've been growin' in my free time. It'd wither up if I didn't keep it watered over break. A-anyway, enough about me!" Jack exclaims in embarrassment."There's nothing to be embarrassed about, Jack. We all have our own fair share of hobbies." I reassured him as he smile at me.
"Ruggie's sharin' his food with a bunch of kids who ain't even family, huh? Never knew he had it in him." Grim said as I rolled my eye.
"Grim, this is why I've told you not to judge a book by it's cover."
"Hyenas believe in sharing spoils equally. I'm sure that's how Ruggie was raised." Jack explained as Leona walked up to us.
"Hmph. The mere thought of a feeding frenzy like that gives me the willies. I can barely stand the noise one kid makes as it is."
'Likely from experience from his nephew...' I thought to myself with an awkward smile.
"Does that mean you're skipping out on visiting your family, Leona?" Jack questioned
"Man, I wish. Nah, they'd give me no end of grief if I did. I'm goin'. Ugh, talk about a holiday chore." Leona says in annoyance.
"But you're not bringing anything?" Jack questioned as we noticed the lack of luggages."Jack, does have a point on that one." I stated as Leona raised an eyebrow towards me.
"So? I got my wallet and smartphone. What else do I need? I've got clothes at home anyway."
"... I hate that you have a point." Leona smirked while I angerly pout.
"This's a whole different kind of extreme." Grim states in disbelief
"You're not even bringing your homework, are you?" Ace questioned as Leona shakes his head.
"Homework can wait until after break. Holidays are for resting. Later, herbivores." Leona walks away as we all sweatdrop.
'What a lazy cat, but it was expected.' I thought with a deadpanned look as Jack sighs.
"He's good enough to do anything when he applies himself, so why doesn't he? Well, I know I'll be getting mine done. You guys had better do the same. Later."
"Whatever you say, tryhard. See you next year, huh?" Ace saysJack then gives me a quick hug before heading towards the mirror as well while trying not to drop the planter in his hands. I waved towards him and said goodbye while wishing him a great winter break. Once he left our sight, we continue to talk among ourselves about Leona and his principles. Grim and I were already use to seeing how he is with his principles due to spending my stay there back during the situation with Azul. Though, not Ace or Deuce since they don't see him very often as Deuce had an thoughtful look.
"Leona's commitment to his principles is actually impressive." Deuce states, impressed as I looked at him with an raised eyebrow.
"Is it commitment or just his personality?"
Deuce, Ace, and Grim laughed at the joke I made before we went back to talking, but this time to other things like homework. Grim and Ace voiced their complaints about the amount and how they didn't want to do it. Deuce then proceed to scold them and tell the importance of homework as well as why they need to do it, while I was laughing at their little squabble. Then we were two pair of footsteps walking towards as we looked to see it was Cater and Trey making their way over.
"Okay, froshes! Don't let those bad boy upperclassmen give you any bad ideas, you hear?" Cater informs us, well more directed towards Ace and Deuce.
"In our dorm, if you don't turn in your homework, Riddle makes sure it's off with you head." Trey informs us as we smile at them."Hey, Trey. Hey, Cater." Ace greeted them
"Hello you two, are you both looking forward on going home?" I asked as Cater sighs.
"Ugh. Going home is kind of a drag for me, too. I just know my sisters are both coming home. They don't care if it's the holidays—they'll run me ragged anyway. I wish I could stay over at your house instead, Trey!"
"You'd be welcome to, but we'd be running you just as ragged. Winter is the patisserie's busiest time of the year." Trey informs him."Oh yeah, your family runs one of those, huh? So much for any escape." Cater says with a pout
"Maybe next time, Cater." I suggested as he shrugs while smiling.
As we continue talking, I asked Cater to help me with my phone and how to use it properly to avoid getting scolded by Crowley when he gets back. Cater was more then happy to help as he was excited to see that I finally have a phone. Thankfully, it didn't take too long like I thought as I thanked him before he went back to talking with the others. As I was putting my phone away, I noticed Riddle standing next to me. I smiled as I was about to greet him before I noticed the sadden look on his face as I realized why he was in this state with a frown.
'I hope he'll be okay back at home... After all, his mother isn't the best from what I say in his memories.' I thought to myself with an concern look as Riddle remains silent.
"......"
"Erk! Housewarden Rosehearts! Sorry for blocking the way!" Deuce exclaims as him and the others noticed him."Hm? Oh, it's you boys. If you're going to stand around and congregate, at least stay near a wall." Riddle informs us.
"Huh, he's soundin' kinda defeated." Grim whispers to Ace, who nods in agreement.
"Oh, right. The housewarden's got an extreme case of helicopter parenting waiting for him at home. No wonder he's not enthused about heading back."
"Riddle, I'm not allowed in your house, so I won't be able to bring by any cakes... But you're always welcome to visit me at the store. I'm sure Chenya will drop by to hang out, too." Trey informs him, trying to cheer Riddle up.
"Yes, you're right. I think...I'm going to try talking with Mother some. I don't know if she'll listen, but even so." Riddle informs us as Trey looked even more concern.
"... All right. Good luck."
"Riddle, are you sure you're going to be okay? You don't have to talk with her if you feel to uncomfortable." I said as I place my hand on his shoulder while he looked at me.
"Don't worry, Ciel. I'll be fine, but this is something I have to do." Riddle reassured me as he placed his hand on top of mine while giving it a small squeeze."Okay... If you says so, but just be careful okay?" I asked as he nods with a small smile, then a voice rang out as the sound of footsteps can be heard.
"What's a matter, Goldfishie? Don't wanna go home?"
(Happy 4th of July, my Celestials! ^w^)
