We were at the breakfast table when Mina slipped back into an awkward state.

I knew something had been on her mind, but what it was, I could not tell.

I smiled at her, hunching over in my seat. "Will you sit up straight please" she whispered.

This is what she did when she was nervous, she had to find order. I slid up my chair.

"What's bothering you" I asked. Her eyes met mine.

It was like she breathed for the first time since the day started, "What did those boys do to you yesterday?".

I set my fork down.

"Y/n?", I began to fidget with my fingers in hopes that'd she'd move on. I was too busy with everything else to even think about it.

"You've got bruises" she stated. I knew the ones she was talking about, right below and above my bra line.

"I..I", she stood setting her plate away. "Sweetheart I just need you to give me confirmation".

She was making her way toward me, "What happened?". I knew she'd take care of it.

The words slipped out before I could stop them.

"They put their hand up my shirt", before I could finish she had already grabbed her purse to get out the door.

I followed her in a hurry, "Mina, it's not a big deal". She stopped at the door of the car, "get in". There was no negotiation.

I was still pleading with her in the seat, "Really, they didn't really do anything this time".

Her gaze fixed on mine, "this has happened before?". I looked downward.

"I'm fine, it's okay", She ignored me while her key went into the ignition. I touched her arm.

She immediately faced me, "No, it's not. I will not tolerate that behavior". The engine started and I made myself small in the passenger seat.

There was silence, I spoke trying to set her at ease.

"They didn't do anything else", when she hit the brakes I knew I had made a mistake.

"What do they normally do?", her voice was harsh and angry.

My lips glued shut. I stayed that way till we were outside the school.

"Go inside, sit down". She handed me her keys.

I did that, making sure no one watched as I unlocked her classroom and sat on her chair.

Within a few minutes she returned. Her face was still serious but her eyes were soft when they met mine.

She shut the door, "Go to your class now". I stood, before I could leave she placed her palm on my cheek.

"If you need to come back, I'm here", she kissed the side of my head.

I nervously left the room. I'd still be back for her class.

Throughout the day, all I could think about was if she was still mad. The anxiety was beginning to nip at me.

I stepped in her room before the bell, she quietly looked up to see me. Instead of speaking she wrote on the board, and left to stand by the door.

I sat and followed the instructions she had written. Once people began to file in I realized why she stood there.

Only three students were missing, the three boys. I began to nervously bite at my lip as she closed the door while still in the hallway.

Murmurs throughout the room followed. It had been minutes of their names and why she had not let them enter.

I could feel the heat rise in my body out of fear, she reopened the door and entered alone.

I couldn't read her expression; anger pride, sorrow, they all mixed in her face.

She only exchanged glances with me. After class I didn't bother speaking to her, I was too worried about what'd she say.

Later, when we sat in her car, she cleared her throat.

"Are you upset with me?", she asked softly. "No", "Why have you been so quiet?".

I stared out the window, "Grayson won't leave me alone just because he got sent to the office".

"He will no longer attend my class", "They'll kill me". She didn't respond, I didn't look at her.

I immediately tried to get out when she parked. The lock clicked.

"Y/n, they won't lay another finger on you", she reassured. I began to cry, "Mina, they will, I won't last the week".

"Sweetheart stop", I kept grabbing the handle of the door. I was frantically trying to open it while I started to hyperventilate.

I let out a cry, "They'll take me behind the gym and-". She placed her hand on my chest.

"Breath", she tenderly removed me from the door. "You don't know what I'm capable of" she whispered feeling my lungs expanded in my ribs.

Her eyes had gone dark like she was replaying an image in her head. My heartbeat slowed, "I'll protect you".

"Promise?", "When do I not promise?". Her plumb lips met mine. I let her tongue enter my mouth not bothering to fight for dominance.

Heat rose to my cheeks, she was so different compared to everyone else. When her fingertips touched me if was like sparks across my skin, and when her lips felt mine I left this world.

"Do you trust me?", she leaned away. I nodded, within seconds she had taken me from the car to reconnect our mouths. Our feet stumbled to the front door.

I've been really busy with school and haven't had the chance to write, so next chapter might take a little longer.
