He was sitting in a mandap. His mind was somewhere else. A voice was echoed in his ears.
"Kopal meri baat maan ja beta"
"Bol na kopal manega na meri baat"
"Som aur batuk ko jarurat hai uski"
"Kopal tu VIVAH karega na BONDITA se"
"Meri aakhiri ichchh...

"Aaj kaalratri hai to aaj raat pati patni ek saath ek kamre me nahi rahenge kal basi biye ki rasamo ke baad hi mil sakte hai. Koyeli bahu ko kamra dikha do. Bahu tum batuk ko bhi apne saath le jaao" said Trilochan kaka to which they both nodded and Bondita look toward Anirudh who was standing beside Som and caressed his hair with a small smile. Koyeli take her towards her room. They went from there.
"Anirudh, Som, Binoy jaao tum sab bhi jaakar aaram kar lo kal basi biye ki rasam hai" said Trilochan kaka.
"Par kaka kya ye rasam - wasam karna zaruri hai?" Asked Anirudh being little irritated.
"Haan Anirudh ye rasme zaruri hai ab vivah hua hai to rasme to karni hi hogi na aur hum jaante hai tu ye sab kyu puchh raha hai. Anirudh tujhe ab Saudamini ko apne dil aur dimag se nikalna hoga ab Bondita bahu teri patni hai" said Trilochan kaka.
"Haan Anirudh, Daa sahi keh rahe hai. Dekho Anirudh.. Saudamini ki taraf tumhara jo bhi aakarshan (attraction) hai jise tum pyar samajh rahe ho wo mahaj ek lagaaw hai aur kuchh nahi. Anirudh.. Saudamini tumhari bachpan ki dost hai, saath pale - badhe ho tum dono to ye lagaaw aam baat hai. Samajh rahe ho na tum" said Binoy to which Anirudh didn't said anything and went to his room.
"Jaane dijiye baba, dada ko samjha ka koi fayda nahi hai, dada wahi karenge ho unka man karega" said Som.
"Haan Binoy shayad Som sahi keh raha hai, ab tum dono bhi jaao aur aaram kar lo" said Trilochan kaka and they went to their respective room.
In Bondita's room
Bondita was trying to make batuk sleep but he couldn't. Whenever she made laid on the bed he woke up and again Bondita lift him in her arm.
"Ab so bhi jaao Batuk" Bondita murmurred "shayad ye aise nahi soyega ise bahar lekar jaati hoon khuli hawa me shayad nind aa jaaye" again Bondita murmurred and got up from the bed along with batuk and went toward corridor. While crossing Som's room, she saw him sitting on the bed lost somewhere. She enter in his room.
"Som" Bondita called him. He lifted his head and saw her.
"Baudi tum yaha is samay?" Som asked.
"Haan wo Batuk so nahi raha tha to soch bahar gumaaungi to shayad nind aa jaaye isiliye ise ghuma rahi thi" Bondita said while Batuk's back whose head is resting on her shoulder.
"Haan baudi wo jab tak ise thodi der ghumaya na jaaye ise nind nahi aati maa bhi aise hi sulaati thi" Som said while downing his head.
"Hmm! Ab ye bataao ki tum abhi tak kyu jage hue ho, soue kyu nahi samay dekho kitni raat ho gayi hai" Bondita said.
"Bas nind nahi aa rahi thi baudi, maa ki yaad aa rahi hai.. tumhe pataa hai jab mujhe nind nahi aati thi na to maa mujhe lori gaakar gulati thi.. par ab....." said Som in mild voice and a tear rolled on his cheek.
Bondita couldn't saw him like that and sit beside him and laid batuk beside her who was now sleeping peacefully.
"Agar main tumhe waise hi sulaaun jaise maa ji sulaati to..." asked Bondita wiping his tear with a small smile.
"Matlab tum mujhe lori gaakar sulaaogi" Som asked.
"Haan aao yaha" Bondita said while patting her lap. Som smile and placed his head on her lap and closed his eyes and Bondita patted his and Batuk head who again woke up and start singing. A tear again rolled on Som's cheek.
Do naino ke.... Tum do kiran.... Ek mera dil hai, Ek dhadkan....
A tear fell from her eyes as she remembered her mother.
O nindiya.... Sun kahna.... Palko me tu rahna....
She looked toward them while singing.
Inke liye hai jeena.... Ye jeevan ka gehna.... Do naino ke.... Tum do kiran.... Ek mera dil hai.... Ek dhadkan....
She looked toward the window in the sky where the moon was shining.
Main maa hoon.... Noor hoon.... Kab tumse door hoon.... Tum mere armaan ho.... Meri sansein meri jaan ho....
She again look toward them and patted their head.
Inka her gum sahna.... Inke liye hai jeena.... O nindiya.... Sun kahna.... Palko me tu rahna..... Do naino ke.... Tum do kiran.... Ek mera dil hai.... Ek dhadkan.....
After sometime he slept with his teary eyes. Bondita wipe his tears.
"Main tum dono ko kabhi bhi ek maa ki kami mehsoos nahi hone dungi main puri koshish karungi ki tum dono ko kabhi bhi akelapan mehsoos na ho" said Bondita with tear in her eyes.
Trilochan kaka and Binoy baba saw them and smiled with teary eyes.
"Humne zarur koi punya ka kaam kiya hoga Binoy jo itni achchhi bahu mili hai hume ab hume taken ho gaya hai ki humaare bachchho ko kabhi apni maa ko kami mehsoos nahi hogi bahu apni zimmedari bahut achchhe se nibhayegi" said Trilochan kaka to Binoy to which he said "haan daa" and they went from there. Bondita look toward shubhra maa's photoframe which was placed on the side table.
Here, Anirudh was sitting on the bed remembering today's incident then he looked toward his mother's photo.
"Maine / aapke bete ne aapka wada pura kiya maa / maa ji" said Anirudh and Bondita together. Then Anirudh remembered something. "Ab main mini ko kya kahunga, kaise samna karunga uska" murmurred Anirudh.
Here Bondita gently placed his head on pillow then covered him with blanket and kissed on his forehead to give him motherly warmth. She picked Batuk in her arm and went to her room. She lied Batuk on bed gently and covered him with blanket and went to change. After changing into comfortable night saree she laid on the bed beside Batuk, kissed his forehead and smiled and after sometime sleep engulf her and she went into deep slumber.
Here Anirudh was sitting on the bed thinking what to do.
"Agar kaka chahte hai ki main kal ye rasme karoon to main ye rasme karunga par in sab rasmo ke baad main Bomdita ko dab sach bataa dunga mere aur mini ke riste ke baare me, haan yahi sahi hoga main use and here me nahi rahne dunga" said Anirudh to himself and then slept.
