Alt. Title: the playful anastacius

"Well, that sucks," Lucas shut the book with an unimpressed look. "Who cares about some old dead hag anyway?"

"Lucas." Athanasia shot him a warning gaze, of which Lucas simply rolled his eyes at. "Don't be so rude."

"... tsk."

From across them, Calyx pursed his lips. "Dad says that the first Sea King's treasure vault could cover the entire continent though. See, look here," grabbing the book from Lucas, Calyx flipped through the pages and stopped on page two-ten. "I've always wondered if it still exists. That's why I always keep this book around. You know, to find clues."

Who knew Delia was such a sucker for money? Isn't she already filthy rich? An indignant Athanasia thought.

"Snacks are ready!"

Jennette skipped into the living room, golding a tray that barely fits the wingspan of her arms. Placing it down on the coffee table, she wiped the sweat on her forehead with the sleeves of her dress.

Seeing this, the crossdressing youth grabbed a handkerchief from his dress' pocket and wiped her sweat, even holding Jennette's wrist so that she would stop using her sleeves. "Sheesh, you could have let me baked the biscuits instead. Look how sweaty you are."

Athanasia and Lucas watched as Calyx fussed over Jennette, who could only giggle as the youth hovered around her with worry. This... was the definition of an older sibling pampering his younger sibling. Look at him, muttering his worries.

What if Jennette got burned or what if she accidentally forgot the mitts and hurt her hands?

It was written all over Calyx' face, and the princess and the magician could only share a dumbfounded look.

An older sibling who was money-hungry with a splash of little sister complex... what an odd person was he.

- at the entrance gate of Mieta -

"Delia, you must send some letters, too!"

"I will, Athy!"

"Jennette, I'll come visit again when I have time, okay?!"

"I'm looking forward to it, Athy!"

The aggrieved princess was reluctant to part ways with her cousin sister and newfound friend. They had been away for more than a month from the palace and as the emperor and crown princess, how could Claude and Athanasia leave the empire's work alone?

In another carriage, a certain magician huffed upon hearing the princess' voice. Though he appeared jealous, Lucas' thoughts remained in the mystery of how a pair of merfolk lived amongst the humans. Many times, he wanted to inform Athanasia but that big fish bastard cast a spell that prevented him from mentioning anything related to the merpeople.

Once the carriage disappeared in the distance, Calyx grabbed hold of Jennette's hand, walking back to their houses hand in hand.

"I already miss my cousin sister," Jennette sulked while kicking a pebble.

Calyx peered at her from the corner of his eyes, "What, you don't want me anymore that your cousin showed up?" He faked a hurt expression, free hand clutching his chest.

His fake expression made Jennette giggle, and her face brightened up in an instant. "Delia is still one of the best!" Then, she began swinging their arms back and forth.
