"Gah!"
Leo woke up to being scratched by... something. He wasn't sure because well... He couldn't see as said thing was scratching his face.
Leo yelped blindly swatted it away and sat up, opening his eyes and looking around for the animal that was scratching him.
His eyes scanned the sewer. It was almost always mostly dark, the only source of light was a big drain which had mossy, insect infected stairs leading to it. Leo had to feel around for his things and was getting pretty good at it.
The ground was on two sides of a massive pipe. The pipe was open at the top, exposing foul smelling water that Leo had gotten used too. It lead to a sewer system.
When Leo found the place a week ago, It was raining heavily. The ground had water filled till above Leo's ankle. Leo thought about sleeping while sitting down so his face doesn't reach the water but quickly realized that he might choke on the water if he accidently lied down.
The water had receded the following few days, and now there were just a few puddles lying around. But those puddles were slippery and gooey, filled slimes from who knows where?
Leo spotted a snowy white blur on a ledge on the wall, near his backpack. That wasn't there before.
His eyes focused and Leo gasped. It-it was an owl. But what is an owl doing in broad daylight? And in a sewer? How did it even get in? It seemed to stand up straighter, as if thinking that Leo was beneath him. Leo looked at it leg, seeing a letter attached to it.
"This day is getting weirder and weirder" Leo mumbled and picked himself up. He walked slowly and carefully towards the owl, cautious and curious. Small sounds of the stale water echoed throughout the sewer. He slowly sat in a crouch, not taking his eyes of the owl. The owl slightly leaned away from him but then it stuck out its leg.
Extremely confused, but still curious, he began to untie the letter from the birds leg. Standing up, he backed away slowly, still trying not to startle it.The envelope was thick and heavy, made of yellowish parchment, his name and the address of the sewer was in green ink. There was no stamp.
Leo laughed in disbelief. The address of the sewer?? How did they get the address of a random sewer in Huston?? Heck, even the manufacturers probably don't know it!
But there were more questions. Who would write a letter to him? He had no friends in the previous orphanage or the one before that. Also, who even writes letters? Its the 21st century, no one's crazy enough to do that.
Questions swimming in his brain, he opened the letter with trembling hands, prepared for a sudden attack (from the owl) and careful not to tear it incase the owl wanted it back. He knew that thought that the owl wanted it back was crazy, but please, everything is crazy now.
there were 2 pieces of paper. Leo pulled the first one out of the envelope and looked at in in misery.
'This is gonna be a pain to read'
A pain it was.
It took him way too long and way too many breaks (to reduce the headache he had gotten from reading) to finish it.
*don't take this part seriously*
It took so long, the owl fell asleep, day turned to night, 50 years passed, life on Earth ended with a nuclear bomb so everyone had to travel to Mars and make babies with the aliens who were actually below Mars's crust so that the human population doesn't die out by the miniscule amount of human beings who actually survived and all the babies were half alien which means they can now breathe, but the real questions are: how the heck the humans even reproduce? Does it even work in space? Won't they not be able to breathe? How do you reproduce if you can't breathe?? Won't the humen die?
Now I know what your thinking, "but they have the the oxygen things on" But the glass sphere that is allowing them to breathe air is connected to the suit. People can't reproduce when that it restricting everything.
*Now you can resume taking this Wattpad story seriously*
Finally, after much trial and error, frowning and groaning, he managed to decipher
HOGWARST SCHOOL OF

...
A drop of blood fell on the piece of parchment. Leo took no notice. He was to busy being confused. Therefore, to not be confused, he decided to write back.
Leo heard fluttering and sharply turned to the owl. 'Wait! Stay there for a minute' Leo yelled, his eyes flashing in urgency. The owl turned to look at Leo smugly, but stopped in seemingly surprise at the desperation in his eyes. The owl settled.
Leo sighed in relief and looked around. He remembered seeing a pen down there once and looked for it. His eyes fixed on a black, slender object near a wall, on the floor.
Behold, the pen.
He ran up to it, practiced moves enabling him to go faster without slipping on the puddles of slippery, gooey sewer water and still holding the letter as to not get it dirty by leaving it on the ground. Leo quickly realizes that thinking that holding the letter is cleaner, is idiotic, his hands are also covered with dirt, grime and dried blood. Shaking his head, he picked up the pen and sat down, his back resting against the wall.
In his sloppy, loopy handwriting, he wrote:
Dear Professor McGonagal,
I would love to go to Hogwarst. I have a few questions though. Where is Hogwarst? How to I get there? Where should we get the necessary equipment (Leo carefully copied the spelling from the previous letter)? What does Witchcraft and Wizardry mean?
Sincerely (Again, copied carefully)
Leo Valdez
Leo folded the letter and walked to a small ledge, which had a grey bag on top. Leo pulled the bag down and pushed it onto a higher ledge so he could use the previous ledge as a table. He rolled up the piece of parchment.
*Deep breath.* Here we go.
Leo slowly approached the owl, not making any sudden movements. He knelt down and the owl stuck out its leg, expecting the letter. Leo carefully tied the letter to the owl's leg and watched as it flew out the open drain.
Leo picked up the letter from the ledge. He opened the flap and was about to pull the letter out when he realized.
The drain was open
