"Does it hurt any less?" He picked at the dead skin around his nails, pulling some back until it ripped off. It healed before it could bleed.

"It'll never stop hurting, I don't think. She's all I smell when I wake up in the morning. I'm reminded of her absence whenever I get home and she's not there." She stared at him intently, her face never betraying her thoughts. Izuku sighed and looked at the analog clock on the wall, the second hand ticking by. "But with every day, yes, it hurts less, and I'm scared."

"Scared?"

"Yeah, scared. I don't remember what her voice sounded like, what her cooking tasted like. With each passing moment I find myself replacing her spot in my life with someone else."

"Yagi."

"I know it's stupid. She was-is my mom. I love her. But Yagi he- he's here for me now. He's a good man. He cares . I think he's the only person other than her who has." He rested his head back against the beanbag he sat in.

"People don't need to care for you to have worth Izuku." She flips a page in her notebook, her phrasing subtly exasperated. He looked up, not-so-subtly exasperated.

"Not this again, don't patronize me."

"This isn't patronization." Izuku looked at the clock and resolutely stood.

"Isn't our session over now, Mrs. Ono? I'm leaving." He grabbed his coat.

"You're not getting out of this, Izuku. We're continuing next week." The therapist said as she tucked her notebook away in a file cabinet next to her chair. Izuku scoffed as he closed the door.

The doors to 1-A were obnoxiously massive. Izuku couldn't help but feel out of place. What was he even doing here? Walking the halls of heroes while human fingers were dissolving in his stomach? He shook his head as if to rid himself of those thoughts. It was necessary for him to eat, no matter how much he hated it. He was going to serve humanity as a hero for it, atonement. Izuku smelled smoke, images of his mother flitted behind his eyelids. He was having more trouble ignoring her lately, he blamed his therapist. Onwards , He thought.

Inside the classroom sat Bakugou, staring at him angrily from his seat at the front of the class, and then there was the guy, the one from the entrance exam who'd scolded Izuku. He took the initiative in approaching the blue haired box of a guy before he was noticed, ignoring Bakugou's pointed glare and his "I want to fight" attitude.

"I'm sorry for what happened during the entrance exam. It wasn't my intention to distract you," he bowed, "I hope you'll have me from here on." Bakugou looked at him with a sneer.

"Cut the shit you man-eating freak!" Izuku barely spared him a glance, continuing to bow to the blue haired boy, who adjusted his glasses and moved his hand in a vertical chopping motion.

"Well, that's quite alright! Might I say what a polite individual you are. I hope we can work together in the future. I'm Iida Tenya." He offered his hand. Izuku took it.

"Oh! You're that Midoriya guy! Hey!" The girl with brown hair exclaimed from the doorway. "Are you feeling better after what happened during the exam?" Izuku turned to her with a bright smile, hating himself for what he'd done to her.
