While Tedson was stuck inside the painting, all he could see outside was the dark room. He didn’t know how he would survive now. It was an abrupt decision and he didn’t know that he would be stuck here. The scenery inside the painting was good, but it was dull. It has healthy green grass, but no flowers. The sun isn’t hot, but night never comes. The wind smells like wood, but he hasn’t seen any birds.
It was peaceful, but too peaceful to be able to live alone. Tedson suddenly missed the sounds of crickets at night. The mellifluously sound of chirping birds and the blooming color of flowers in their garden make me smile.
He went outside his small house, made of the branches of trees and dried grass. Tedson sat in front of the painting and stared at it. Hours, days, weeks, and months had passed, and all he could see was the dark place where this painting was hanging. Even though the night never came, his body still felt sleepy, and he always lay on the grass beside the tree.
Tedson thought that this was the price for the things he had done. To be alone, to suffer, to feel lonely, and to be in a place without life
He asked himself and sat in front of the painting.
"Mother, why did you trap me here?" He asked his late mother.
Somehow, it became his routine. He sat in front of the painting until he got tired and fell asleep. He had already lost count of days, but he hoped everyone on the outside was safe, especially his two siblings.
Tedson immediately opened his eyes and rose up from the floor when he heard the cricking sound of a wooden door. It means someone has come inside.
"Meet your nephew. His name is Nero, Anak. "
"I just want you to know that Jane arrived safe after two months, but Lucio didn’t make it."
"I understand. I’m sorry, papa. I’m sorry I ran away. I’m sorry I used my siblings as an excuse. The truth is, I am just really afraid of dying because I am weak... I’m sorry.
Tedson continues to say sorry even though it is of no use. He is the only one who can hear his apology, and even he couldn’t forgive himself.
For a while, his father continued visiting him together with Nero, but they suddenly stopped visiting for an unknown reason. The last time he saw Nero, he was crying non-stop. He heard Jane's voice, but he couldn’t see her.
“Give me that child, Pa. I will raise him on my own.” She said that her father left him confused.
By the tone of Jane’s voice, Tedson knew that her sister was furious. But, what is the reason? Tedson becomes paranoid and the most painful realization is that he can’t leave the painting to do something for his family. He realized that he had become useless.
