Author's POV:
It's been a week since Pihu's trip to Dev's set.
Last night they went out to dinner with Vyom and although the meal went smoothly the aftermath wasn't as much. Dev accidentally implied that Pihu is obsessed with him, causing Pihu to get angry and hail a cab home.
After reaching home, Pihu realized she left her clutch in Dev's car. After a series of chain messages, Dev agreed to meet up at the corner of Pihu's street and give it back.
Dev is standing by his car impatiently tapping his foot. "God this girl is never on time. She said she's coming out in 2 minutes and isn't here yet." He thinks to himself and lets out a big sigh.
"Kya hua beta, gadi khaarab ho gayi kya?" A middle-aged man approaches Dev. (What happened son, did your car break down?)
"Nahi Uncle, mein kisi ka intezaar kar raha hu" Dev replies trying not to make eye contact with the man in case he recognizes him. (No uncle, I am waiting for someone.)
"Acha Sharma Ji ke waha aye ho?" (Oh are you visiting Sharma Ji?)
His constant pestering bothers Dev and Dev gives him a reply hoping it would make this man go away. "Nahi uncle ji, mein aapni girlfriend ki wait kar raha hu! Woh iss gali mein rehti hai. " (No I am waiting for my girlfriend, she lives down the street.)
"Iss gali mein kon bhala?" The man continues asking. (Who in this street?)
The heat and impatience finally get to Dev and he answers the man. "Priyanka, aur kuch puchna hai aapko?" (Priyanka, do you have any other questions?)
The man raises his eyebrows and then clears his throat. He stands there in silence but doesn't move. "Woh mein keh raha tha, yaha bohot garmi hai. Tum ao aur mere ghar mein betho." The man says. (I was saying, it's very hot here. Why don't you come to my house?)
Before Dev can even decline the offer the man leads him over to his gate. He goes to the door and rings the doorbell.
"Papa, aap doodh lekar aa gaye?" A voice calls out as the door opens. Before the voice can even register in Dev's head, Pihu stands in front of him with wide eyes. (Dad did you get the milk?)
Pihu is frozen in shock. The last thing she expected today was her dad bringing her 'boyfriend' home. She thinks to herself "God please let this be a dream and wake me up."
"Ao na, sofe pe betho." Dheeraj says almost commandingly.
Sweat builds up on Dev's forehead. Dev follows him inside as Pihu is still looking on in shock. She barely moves from the door.
"Shoes." She says to Dev.
Dev notices a rack of shoes by the door and goes on to take off his shoes. He then sits across from Dheeraj nervously.
"Toh tumhari girlfriend Priyanka ne kabhi aapne baap ka photo nahi dikhaya?" He asks. (So your girlfriend Priyanka, never showed you her dad's picture?)
"Papa.." Pihu tries to intervene.
"Mein inse baat kar raha hu tum andar jao." Dheeraj says to his daughter. (I am taking to him, you go inside.)
Nervously Pihu goes inside where Amrita and Nidha are frying pakoras.
"Koi aya hai kya?" Amrita asks her daughter. (Is someone here?)
"Woh maa... woh mein... woh mera.." Pihu cant string together words to her mom. (Uh I .. I...)
Suddenly they hear Nidha GASP.
"Omg OMg OMG! Dev Kapoor is here in our living room!!! This has to be a dream. He's here because of you right??" Nidha says jumping excitedly up and down.
"Woh Pihu ke vaaje see kyun ayenga?" Amrita questions the girls. (Why would he come because of Pihu?)
Before Pihu could answer, Dheeraj calls out to them. "Arre bhai koi nasta toh lau." (Someone bring breakfast)
The girls along with Amrita go out with the food and chai. Pihu is shocked to see Dev and her dad engaging in a conversation. She was sure her dad would've killed Dev by now and was moving on to her.
"Amrita, I'm sure tum inhe toh jaanti hogi but phir bhi, milo Dev se. Yeh Pihu ka boyfriend hai." Dheeraj points to Dev. (I'm sure you know him already but meet him. He is Pihu's boyfriend Dev.)
"Pihu! Tumhara boyfriend? Aise kaise? Log kya kahenge?" Amrita questions her daughter. (Pihu! Your boyfriend? How? What will people say?)
"Arre acha hi kahenge, Dev acha ladka hai." Dheeraj replies. (They will say good things because Dev is good)
Before Pihu can even register what is happening. Nidha and Amrita join Dheeraj on the couch and start talking with Dev. The living room is filled with laughter and praise and Pihu just looks on astonished.
Dev on the other was feeling an emotion he hadn't felt in a long time. Comfort. When Dheeraj questioned him, he said exactly the truth. He told him how he had just met Priyanka (who apparently goes by Pihu) but liked the kind of human she is.
He was met with kindness by Dheeraj and the same by Pihu's sister and mom. His heart had somehow doubled in size as he got back the feeling of a loving family.
And all of this was all thanks to Pihu.
