THE air was cool and soft against Daena's skin, she breathed in the fresh wisps and sighed in relief. Her hands slid against Raindancer's scales as the dragon growled affectionately, she leaned down and smiled at her dragon.

"Down, Raindancer. We have to go back home." She whispered in High Valryian, Raindancer screeched and dived downwards, Daena held onto to her saddle reigns.

The pair made their way down to the ground as Raindancer roared to show her presence, Daemon was waiting down below for her as they landed and she slid off. Raindancer nuzzled her snout into Daena's hair as the girl chuckled and allowed her to wander off into the forest.

"Do you think its safe to not put her in the pit?" Daemon asked, Daena turned and nodded with a grin.

"She won't be able to do anything in the pit, her being out in the open is better." Daena explained, Daemln ran a hand through her hair and lightly kissed her forehead.

"Where is mother?" Daena asked as her and Daemon along the halls of Dragonstone. His hands placed neatly behind his back, dark sister on his side.

"She is waiting for your grandmother, Rhaenys, to arrive back from Kingslanding. It seems as if there was a delay in her return." Daena nodded, he brought her to the beach and sat in the sand with her.

"I wonder what it would be like, ruling Dragonstone." Daena said as she looked Daemon. "I don't think I could do it." Daemon laughed and ran a hand through her hair, stroking the brown locks.

"You will do great, little dragon. No matter what anyone says." Daemon spoke, Daena smiled at him. A knight approached the pair and they stood, Daena keeping a grip on Daemon's tunic.

"My prince, the queen requests you in the hall, Rhaenys has arrived." Daena felt glee as she clutched Daemon's arm, he chuckled and held out a hand.

"Lead the way, Ser Harold." The knight bowed and lead the pair to Rhaenyra and Rhaenys.

They walked into the hall to Rhaenyra pacing around the room, she turned to look at them and smiled bright. "My dragon, come here." She held her hands out to Daena, Daena happily walked into her mother's arms.

"Your grandmother, Rhaenys, will be back from Kingslanding today. I wanted you to be here with me." Rhaenyra spoke, her voice quiet and soft, Daena nodded and eagerly stood by Rhaenyra's side.

Daemon stood off in the corner and watched through hooded eyes as Rhaenys approached, dressed in some armor, Rhaenyra didn't seem to mind as she happily walked up to her, hand over her swollen belly.

"Rhaenys.."

"Viserys is dead." The room went quiet, Daena felt horror strike her core as she looked at her mother, she was trembling, both Daena and Daemon went up to Rhaenyra as her eyes filled her tears but she blinked them away.

"How? What?"

"They have named Aegon his successor in his honor. Aegon is now king, you have usurped, Rhaenyra." Rhaenys stepping closer to the table, Rhaenyra seemed to winced and took a sharp breath.

"They named Aegon king?" She asked, her voice quiet and wobbly, Rhaenys nodded slowly.

"While they locked me in my quarters, the Queen came." Rhaenyra looked at Rhaenys, a sharp look on her face. "She asked me to declare for Aegon and bend the knee." Daena couldn't believe what she was hearing, Aegon was king, her grandfather was dead.

Rhaenyra felt sickened, another wince left her as her breathing sped up, Daemon stepped up further and glared at Rhaenys.

"You had a chance to end this and you didn't? One word, you had a dragon! You could have ended this." Rhaenys shook her head at Daemon and stood her ground.

"This is not my war to start nor is it my war to end. The greens are coming for you, Rhaenyra. You must protect your family." Rhaenys went to walk away but Rhaenyra clutched her stomach and doubled over in agony.

Daemon immediately was at her side as was Daena, Rhaenys turned around with such quickness. Rhaenyra took deep breathes before reaching under her skirts, she pulled her hand back to see it covered in blood, she looked at Daemon with a frantic look.

"Baby's coming."

Daena stood by the entrance of the room Rhaenyra was in, she could hear her mother's screams as she picked at her fingers, taking off the bits skin around the nail. She could hear Daemon talking with his Knights on strategies, she was torn, she wanted the baby to be alright but not even she could tell what the gods wanted.

"Grandmother." Daena spoke, Rhaenys turned to Daena, still dressed in armor. "May you fetch my brothers? I'm sure my mother would want to speak with them." Daena asked, Rhaenys looked at Rhaenyra fragile form and nodded, walking to where the boys were.

Daena walked into the room as she looked at her mother, Rhaenyra was covered in sweat, the middle of her gown covered in blood. Her hair was everywhere in a tussled mess, she threw her head back as she leaned against the wall, she finally noticed her daughter.

"Little dragon? Oh, I hate that you have to see me like this." She groaned and hunched over, taking quick breathes. "You will succeed the Dragonstone throne as Jace will take over what I have left of my power."

"Mother!" Daena turned to see Jace walking towards her, Luke following behind him. Daena went to Luke as the tow hugged each other. Rhaenyra gained her strength as she looked at the three of us.

"Jace, whatever power I still have over the throne, you will take with Daena. Luke will still succeed Driftmark. Your grandsire has passed, Viserys is dead and Aegon has been crowned in his name." Rhaenyra chided, Luke let out a small gasp as Jace looked angry.

"Him? Aegon? They really do have no idea what they're doing." Daena and Luke left as Jace stayed back to talk to Rhaenyra.

Luke and Daena sat in their chambers together in peace and quiet, Baela and Rhaena sat with them when they heard the news.

"Are we gonna die?" Luke asked, cutting through the silence with a knife. Baela looked down as Rhaena let out a shaky gasp. Daena shook her head as she held Luke's hands.

It felt like hours as time passed, the four sat in a deadly silence, they were all curled up on each other as they waited for news of their mother. Rhaenys walked in with a solem look.

"Is she okay! Is mother okay?" Daena questioned, her voice frantic and shaky, Rhaenys looked down.

"Visenya...is dead. The babe was still, Rhaenyra is alright." Rhaena gasped as Baela covered her mouth.

The babe was dead, Visenya Targaryen was dead. The funeral was quiet, Daena stood with Jace, Luke, and Joffery. Joffery held Daena's hand as he quietly wept, Jace and Luke looked down. Daena blocked out everything.

She saw a knight approached her mother and father but she didn't hear what they were saying, all she knew was he pulled out a crown and Daemon took it. He turned to Rhaenyra who's face was solem and dull, he walked towards her and knelt down before crowning her.

She looked down for spilt second before standing stronger and looking over the crowd. The maids, Knights, even te common folk knelt down to her, Daena motioned for her siblings to take a knee as well. Rhaena and Baela followed shortly.

There she was.

No longer the realms delight or the princess of Dragonstone. No. She was more.

She was Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen, the first of her name and the last.
