September 8th,Today marks the eight month since Bilal passed away.
She never thought this day would come but eventually it's here.
His birthday.
*flashback
It was a Saturday morning. She stood by the door with one muffin cake and a candle on top of it.
She opened the door slowly and entered the dimly lit room. She looked over only to find her husband sleeping peacefully on the bed. He looks cute. She thought. His hair was falling on his face making his facial features to stand out more.
She smiled at the scene that was in front of her and silently prayed.
Without any hesitation she jumped on the bed making him to wake up abruptly.
"What is it?" He screamed then looked at the human in front of him.
"Seriously kamila, it's weekend allow me to rest" he made a move to lay back down but she pulled him back.
"Today is your birthday Mr. Bilal Othman. You don't expect me to just let you sleep in on your birthday "
"Honestly, it's fine if you don't give me any birthday gifts, just let me sleep"
"You're so stubborn. Okay just make a wish and blow out the candle and I will let you sleep"
"Promise?"
"I promise on our marriage " she made pledge.
He closed his eyes like a little boy and a moment later he blew the candle.
"Happy birthday Bilal " she said.
"Thank you"
And he kissed her forehead.
She was about to get down from the bed when he pulled her to himself.
"You woke me up from sleep. Now make sure I go back"
She laughed at that and they fell asleep. In each other's arms.
*****
She laid on her bed looking at her ceiling lights.
Her pillow was wet from the silent tears that had been running down.
She had been in her room all day long. Switching on her beat box she played 'lift me up' and was taking in each and every word.
She didn't know why but all she wanted at that moment was to be with her mom. She's probably the only person that would understand her.
There was a faint knock on the door and it was slightly opened. Arafat appeared holding a tray containing breakfast or lunch or both.
"Uh sis, you didn't come down for breakfast or lunch so I thought maybe I should bring some for you. I'll just keep it on the drawer" he kept it and went out. On the way he met his mom.
"How is she?"
"Honestly mom I don't even know. I think you should see her"
He was about to leave but she stopped him.
