we drove by the coastline,
past the north city welcome signs:
where the waves are blue
and the sun shines, too.
political discussions
and radio percussions
the adults make their opinions meet
while I write in the backseat
miles of electrical wires,
shrill squeaking of tires,
farmer's market and red striped shirts,
our eyes sparkling with mirth.
country roads went on and on,
smoothly the car engines run.
too swiftly have these moments gone,
and I know forever's the sweetest con.
