Harry run as fast as he could towards the dormitory, head dizzy and eyes spilling hot tears. He couldn't stop replaying that sentence over and over in his mind and every time it hurt more. This time was even harder than when Louis' had laughed at Nick's words. The fact that he heard the slur come out of Louis' mouth, with his voice that was usually soothing and flirty for Harry, made it worse.
When he made it to the dorm, he was out of breath, cheeks red and wet, hair messy and swollen eyes. The alcohol had finished its effect and now he could only feel a painful headache, amplified by all the crying.
When he got to the room, he slammed the door opened without knocking, sure that no one would be there.
But he was wrong, enormously wrong.
Zayn was laying on the bed, shirtless and sweaty, Liam hoovering over him with his back to the door. As Harry got in, Zayn pushed him away and put his shirt back on fast, desperation clear in his stare.
The little boy froze. He didn't know what to say or do. He wasn't much in a shock, since he suspected that something was going on between the two. But the past two days had been so much for him that now he had no energy to deal with this as well.
-Harry... - Liam started saying, worried for the little boy that looked wrecked.
-I'm.. I'm sorry I didn't wan-want to inter...- he started blurting out, embarrassed and anxious.
-No there's nothing to be sorry about H. Are you okay? -.
-I-I don't know... - Harry said, pain clear in his words. He sat on his bed and started staring at his feet.
-Are you upset because of us? - Liam gather the courage to ask. Zayn still hadn't said a word: he set still on his bed, blank stare.
-No... I had a rough night. But it's not for you... - Harry wanted to ask them everything he could, but he didn't want to be nosy or annoying. Yet the confirmation that they were something, even if he didn't know what, made him feel less alone about what was happening to him with Louis.
-I think we own you some explanation... - Liam said, breaking the silence that had formed in the room.
-You don't have to if you don't want... - Harry replied lowly, mostly looking at Zayn. He could see that between the two he was the most scared.
-I think we can trust you...- Zayn said, earning a loving stare from Liam and a smile from Harry.
--------
They talked until four in the morning. Zayn and Liam opened up to the curly boy, explaining him how they met and when they understood they had feelings for each other. Harry felt his heart melt at the loving words they were saying, yet he couldn't hold tears back when the boys got to the sad part of their relationship.
Liam told him that the girl he refers to as 'his girlfriend', is in fact one of his childhood friends and the only one who he talks with about Zayn. They have to hide, and Zayn's room is one of the few safe places they can share. Both of their families wouldn't understand, and the principal of the school is well known for his conservative ideas. Only one year before, a boy they knew was kicked out of the school because he was brave enough to not hide, so they were obviously scared.
-There are very few people we can trust Harry...- Zayn told him, eyes sad –I can't say it to my family, they wouldn't understand. And I can't say it to my friends either, I think you saw it with your eyes...-. Harry nodded.
-So, you really can't talk with anyone? - he asked.
-Actually, there is one other person that knows this, Louis. He always helps us meeting alone by covering us with the others...- Liam said, a small smile on his face. Harry felt his heart skip a beat at the mention of Lou.
Was he helping them? The same guy who, only a few hours ago, broke his heart in a million pieces?
-But he doesn't seem so accepting... - Harry said casually. Zayn was looking deep into his eyes, so deep he felt exposed, like he could read his mind.
-Louis is very accepting and very supportive. He just has a hard family situation; he can't really be himself around people- Zayn soon defended his best friend. Harry just nodded, feeling tears form in his eyes once again. He could see things in a clearer light now and he was starting to connect the dots, but he didn't want to ask anything to Liam and Zayn.
He didn't want anyone to know yet what happened between he and Louis, the wound was too fresh to be touched in that moment.
