Lua wondered if she was still drunk. There was no other explanation.
She looked directly into Pedro's eyes, as if there was an answer to what was happening in them. First, this man had breached into her apartment claiming it was his, and now he was trying to flirt with her. Lua could begin to feel how her blood began to fill with anger and every little bit of fear disappear.
A loud rush of air escaped her lips, and in disbelief, she turned to see the man with a look so cold that it could freeze the wine that had been left on the table. Lua stood up abruptly, and she looked down seeing how Pedro got up slowly.
''Get out of my apartment before I call the police.'' She managed to get her first words out after what felt like an eternity. She had her gaze fixed at the height of his chest, but it was not a time for cowardice, so she forced herself to look up to meet his brown eyes.
"I don't have time for this, sorry." Pedro took her arm, trying to move her towards the door. Lua didn't think twice, and stepped on his foot with all her force. Although he was much taller and stronger than her, she still managed to get a little squeak out of him.
''I would love to do this,'' He said pointing a finger between them ''but I'm really tired today, can we do a raincheck, Sugar?'' His grasp was still tightened in her arms.
Lua wrenched herself free, shaking in rage. "Never touch me again," The cold in her eyes had been replaced by fire, and she felt her anger rise to her cheeks. ''And stop calling me Sugar.''
The two were frowning at each other without saying a word. Pedro noticed all the foreign boxes that were scattered around the apartment. He closed his eyes and brought his hand to the forehead, and while he rubbed his eyebrows, he turned to see Lua.
''My friends didn't send you here, did they?'' Pedro asked as he tried to understand the situation.
''Your friends?'' Lua practically barked ''What the hell are you talking about?''
''To celebrate that I moved to a new apartment,'' He continued to explain ''My friends were joking that they would send me a hook...'' He stopped mid-sentence when he observed the vein on the young woman's forehead almost explode.
''I beg your pardon?'' She squinted in fury.
She felt the urge to kill him.
No, she was going to kill him.
No, maybe –
Lua's incriminating thoughts were interrupted by the loud sigh of the man in front of her.
''I think there has been a misunderstanding, '' he muttered, now his hand running through his hair. ''Are you sure you didn't get the wrong apartment?''
Lua arched a brow.
''How would I have gotten in if I didn't have the right keys?''
Pedro looked at her and then glanced toward the window. The city was mesmerizing at night, and the flickering lights in the distant buildings remained him of better times. He thought that the first time he saw the skyline in his new apartment, would be very different from the situation he was in now. It was three in the morning and there was no way they could resolve this until the next day.
''In the morning we will speak to the landlord. Probably an error occurred in the delivery of the keys'' Pedro finally said, ''Is that okay with you, Sugar?''
Luna stared annoyed at Pedro, she already told him to stop calling her ''sugar''. But he was right, they would have to wait until morning to call the landlord.
''Very well,'' Lua replied ''You can sleep on the sofa.''
''Why do I have to be the one who sleeps on the sofa?'' He questioned her.
''Weren't you the one who was so persistent on seeing me in bed, Sugar?'' She taunted at him with a fake smile.
Pedro smirked to himself and nodded. That's fair. She had a sharper wit than he first believed when he saw her lying on the floor.
The conversation had ended, and Lua turned around to go to the bedroom. "What type of hooker would joke about breaking into an apartment?'' She asked under her breath, still angry about the ridiculousness of his assumption.
But he heard her clearly, and with the confidence of a man who has never been rejected, he mocked "My friends just know how much I love a challenge."
