I grunt in struggle as I pull myself up to his bedroom window. My arm's straining with a muscle burn, god I've never been so active in my life. I lift a hand to hit his window and he's already there and opening it.
"Hey, so you think you can drag me in?" I humorlessly joke and he takes it seriously as he grabs my wrists in clammy hands and pulls me up with ease.
I land on my feet as he lets go pacing his room. His hair was sweaty and stuck to his forehead, a pile of food on his bed. I walk up to him and gently place my hands on his arms stopping him.
"Hey... hey Pete it's okay. Tell me what happened." He grabs my wrists in shaky hands and nods a few times.
"It bit me." I furrow my brows,
"What bit you?"
He flicks a wrist at his desk and I let him go to bend over. I stare at one of the spiders from Oscorps experiments. I spin around and grab his face tilting his head side to side up and down.
"Where? Where's the bite?" I rush out and lift a flaccid arm forcing his sleeve up. He shrugs me off and turns around pulling the collar of his shirt down.
"Jesus." I mumble as I stare at the inflamed bite mark.
"Okay– okay. I'm sure you're fine. It's fine, it's just a reaction, you know? We didn't use deadly spiders... I think." I mumble to myself as I place a hand on my chin, my fingers covering my lips as I stare at the floor thinking.
"It's doing something. MJ, something weird's happening to me." He whispers out scared and I nod.
"I know, I know. It's just a reaction, maybe it's just a side effect, you know?" I reassure him with unsure words and he nods as he wipes his forehead. I walk up to him and grab his face delicately.
"You'll be okay by morning, I'll stay here and make sure this doesn't get worse, alright?" He nods rapidly and runs his hands through his clammy hair.
"Get some sleep, I'll be here." I lead him over to his bed and he flops down allowing me to clear the half eaten, semi melted frozen food off his bed and into a trashcan by his desk.
I sit down in his office chair and curl up in it watching as he gets comfortable in his bed and closes his eyes with a shuttering exhale.
—
I stand stalk still, my breathing fluttering in my throat as I steady myself on the wall leading into the school's laboratory.
"Woah, woah." I hear a disembodied voice rush out behind me as hands plant themselves on my back.
"You okay?" I blink a few times and my eyes blurred with glossy tears.
"Huh?" I slur out as I look at Peter, his eyes wide with worry MJ and Ned behind him. I furrow my brows as I look at all their faces, my eyes making it to the Peter I keep seeing.
A vividly distinct memory feeling washed over me moments prior, it felt like I was walking, breathing and saying everything that I was seeing.
But I couldn't, It can't be me. His eyes remained on mine, soft and sad, just like they've always been since he's first seen me.
"I'm okay." I breathe out gathering myself again as I face my Peter again. His brows scrunched together as he nods,
"Okay, alright." He exhales and wraps a suited arm around my shoulders giving a look to our two other friends. Ned pushes open the door and we walk in.
Peter quickly bustling me over to a stool and sitting me down. He lifts a fabric bag over the desk he'd forced me to sit down by and dumps the broken items onto it.
