Drugs aren't for kids. That's what every non-using adult says about them. Towards other adults, they do not care. But towards kids, it's all their business. And Shin Ryujin would agree with you. Drugs are not for kids. In fact, they really should be for anyone.
However, did this stop her?
No.
She wasn't a hard user like cocaine, she wasn't sniffing anything up into her brain. She just smoked, cigarettes and e-cigs were where she stopped herself. Respectfully.
Her friends didn't match though, they really ever came to school sober, and in this new day and age kids were uncontrollable. The teachers didn't care that some of them came in reeking of marijuana or alcohol. Ryujin knew she was a part of the kids with a bad rep at the large school. She wondered how she was a senior, set to graduate. She doesn't pay much mind to her studies.
But if she paid as much mind to her studies as she did parties and girls, she'd be Valedictorian.
She didn't have the classic 'player girl' look though, her style wasn't that swaggy, she enjoyed wearing simple outfits was all. Even today, she just wore a white cropped tank top and brown bell bottom jeans with platform black boots. Simple, yet it did wonders for her figure. She had long black hair with a full set of bangs upon her forehead. She just fit in with the other side of the school because they were more fun in her opinion.
"Jaydaaa" Ryujin slurred, sober but tired. She was at school at 7am like every weekday morning, for her first class that started at 7:20am. She dapped up her best friend and her other friends in the group.
"You have any nicotine?" Ryujin asked in a whisper, she forgot her vape at home. Jayda nodded and whipped out her light pink, shiny, e-cig for Ryujin to take a whiff off. "Blagh, bubblegum?" Ryujin cringed at the flavor. She doesn't like bubblegum flavor.
"Yeah, the teachers all just think it's actual bubblegum." Jayda shrugged, taking a hit herself before putting it away. They both released the smoke at different times, quickly swatting their hands to get rid of it so security and staff don't see.
Ryujin continued conversing with her friends, barely hearing them over the loud rap they were blaring through their own speakers. Then she saw her. Her crush.
A ladder from the brighter, richer side of town. She's popular, kind, pretty, captain of the cheerleading squad, nearly perfect. Ryujin usually doesn't go for girls who are so soft, so pretty and beautiful. Girls like that are so emotional, they want to take things slow and easy. Ryujin wasn't like that.
She just wants action.
But something about her was special to Ryujin. She's so alluring. There's no one like her, she is the most unique person she has ever seen. From any angle, you know it's her. You know it's Electra Hwang. Senior. IB courses. Last year's prom queen.
Ryujin stared at her from across the hall. Today was game day for the football team so all the cheerleaders wore their uniforms to school. Hers looked the best, the school's colors were made for her. Beige, white, and black for the Cobra, the school's mascot.
She had this long, full, wavy, hair that had a personality of it's own. The top half was black, while the ends were pastel pink. It went down to just above her belly button.
She has this bright aura that makes her attractive to everyone. Somehow when she smiled, which was often, it got brighter and stronger. Ryujin admired her, walking down the hall with her best friends, stopping at her locker not too far from Ryujin and her friends.
Ryujin loves everything about her, really. Like a sweet crush. And she hates it, she hates how soft Electra makes her. She's just so pretty, her heart melts like a popsicle.
Ryujin loves just how much her healthy hair bounces when she nods her head in conversation. She loves her skin tone, not super pale, just enough to see the true melanin; like light coffee. She loves her siren eyes that weren't hypnotizing in a scary way. Like soft siren eyes. They were such a unique color, she used to be accused of wearing contacts.
Her eyes are subtly gray, and they sparkle so easily in every light.
But Ryujin awkwardly scratched the back of her neck and looked away when Electra's boyfriend joined their conversation, putting his arm around her.
Just another crush on a straight girl.
"Ryujin Holy fuck, are you suddenly a lightweight? Or did you come to school already high?" Jayda teased after trying to get Ryujin's attention several times, failing each time. She realized she lost Ryujin's attention to Electra and sighed for the hopeless gay, "I know you like her, but-"
"But it's not anything. I don't do sentimental shit. She must be the epitome of emotional shit." Ryujin cut her off. "She's just hot."
"So you're just thinking of hitting it? A bottom plus a bottom wouldn't get anywhere." Chan, her other best friend asked.
"Maybe, but she has a boyfriend. I don't cheat. Plus y'all already know, princesses like her don't like the shit we're into. They want it to be all romantic, with flower petals, and candles n' shit. Maybe if she was with our side of the school." Ryujin chuckled while rolling her eyes.
All these things she may say, but she does like Electra a lot. She doesn't want sex from her. She doesn't even imagine it, she just stares, like she's in love.
"Hey, you guys hear? They found her body." Chan brought up suddenly.
"Jinni's? Holy shit, so she was dead." Jayda gasped, taking another secret hit of her e-cig.
"Yup, and they still have no leads on the suspect. It's what... the fourth kidnapping and the fourth kill from our school? All girls."
Ryujin wondered if Electra knew this yet, she looked happy. But Jinni was one of her best friends.
"Chan, how do you know?" Ryujin questioned, and he showed her his phone. A recent article stating news about the find.
From behind them, sudden cries could be heard. Ryujin turned around as did everyone else. It wasn't Electra, but Yuna. Her girlfriend, Tyra, showed her the article. It made her heart sore, she couldn't imagine losing Jayda or Chan.
"You guys think the killer is another student? Maybe a teacher!" Ryujin thought out loud.
"I don't know... is there anyone sus to y'all?" Jayda rescinded.
"Nah... Maybe Mr. Nancy. He's lowkey a pedo, there's got to be a reason as to why he's so happy to teach English to half the squad on game day."
"But not all the victims are on the cheerleading squad."
"Soyeon, Yena, and Jinni were. Daisy wasn't though."
"Who do you think is next?" Ryujin questioned, curious about their ideas.
"Honestly..." Jayda gave a sly look and nodded behind Ryujin. She looked back and slapped Jayda on the arm playfully.
"Jay!" She yelled.
"What? Electra may be popular, but she is so naive and innocent."
"But she has her own car, and she's rich."
"So?"
"So... she doesn't ever walk home from school alone, and I don't know... rich people have all kinds of ways to keep themselves protected."
"But Ryujin, she's too nice and trusting of everyone. Like her dickhead boyfriend, Lucas? He cheated on her how many times? And she forgave him for every single one of them. Shit, maybe he's the killer and those were the girls he cheated on her with."
"Not funny, bro. And this killer is smart, it can't be Lucas. I honestly think it's just some creep who stalks the school or some shit." Ryujin shrugged.
Every game day, someone goes missing. Who will go missing today? It could be anyone here. It could be Electra, or her best friend, Yuna, or her other best friend, Dosie. It could be Jayda...
It sent chills down Ryujin's back, anyone from these halls could be walking down them for the last time.
Stay safe and healthy, don't skip your meals 🤍🫀
