*Ellie sat on edge all morning, part excited and part scared that maybe Mr. Martin would have changed his mind, or maybe he possibly locked McGee up for good or worse?!
The girl yelped slightly, catching herself and some of her classmates off guard as they all slowly filed out for lunch. She waited until everyone was gone, even smiling awkwardly as Conner gave her a once over before leaving until it was just her and the art teacher with the biggest secret that now she was in on--or at least still hoped to be.*
ELLIE:
[Here we go!]
*She drew in a deep breath, packing the rest of her things into her bookbag as she swung it over her shoulder and stood up. She watched as Mr. Martin stood as well, peaking out the door a moment, before shutting it softly behind him. She slowly approached the desk, rolling back and forth from tiptoe to heel in anticipation and nerves.*
NICHOLAS:
*He made sure the door was secure before returning to the desk, seeing the excitable teen waiting with her hands behind her back as she rocked back and forth; it was almost identical to the way McGee had been pacing as Nicholas had packed up for class that very morning.*
[Truly, these two are one and the same...]
*He offered her a small smile as he went back to his desk, sitting down with a heavy sigh.*
I imagine these last few days felt incredibly long for you, too, then, Miss Evergreen?
ELLIE:
*She tugged at the cuff of her sleep, flushing a tad.*
Heh.... wait, 'too'?
*She tilted her head.*
MCGEE:
*He had been forced by Nick to stay at the desk behind a makeshift book fortress to keep an eye on the toon and make sure he wasn't waving or being reckless for the sake of a chance glance or wave to the girl he was about to spend the rest of the week with. However, now that he heard Ellie's name and the door shut, the silence resounding around them but for their voices, he sprung out from behind the oversized dictionary that had made up his main castle wall. Knocking it over, he heard Ellie squeal and Nicholas groan as he appeared before them.*
ELLIE!!
NICHOLAS:
*He let out a long but happy sigh.*
Indeed, 'too'.
ELLIE:
*As if she already could count his moves, her palms were outstretched as the drawing made a leap of faith up onto Nicholas' desk before jumping into her hands with ease. She felt tears of relief trying to pool in her eyes as she brought her new friend up close to her and nuzzled him so.*
McGee! I'm so happy to see you again! I was scared that maybe I wouldn't! I still feel like this is all a dream--!
NICHOLAS:
[I think that makes two of us--this is still so strange; I'm still trying to wrap my head around how I feel about this, yet--]
*His eyes scanned the interaction in front of him, feeling no sense of danger in the teen's excitement, but like anything new and unknown, Nicholas trod with caution. With a clearing of his throat, he leaned over and took out a newer portfolio from his messenger bag, and placed it on the desk.*
I, uh, went ahead and drew up some new clothes and things for McGee to add to the other portfolio I gave you. This should keep him entertained during the times you both can't be together during the week.
ELLIE:
*She gave the toon another nuzzling embrace against her cheek as she reached out to take the new book off of Mr. Martin's desk. She picked it up, McGee holding onto her neck gently for support as she moved, as though they'd never been apart. She thumbed it open.*
A new wardrobe?! McGee, you must be so excited!
MCGEE:
*He leaned in, eager as she opened it.*
I am! He wouldn't lemme see what he was doodling this whole time! Said it was worth the wait, pft-- hey!!
*He blinked up at her, confused as the book shut on him.*
