"𝘞𝘦 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘶𝘱 𝘵𝘰," Was the first thing Akil heard once she opened the door of her apartment.

The thirty-year-old frowned exhaustedly at the two men out in hallway—the man bun wearer Luke Morales and dark coffee skin Edi Okonedo. Her hair was messy in the ponytail from the night before. She jumped out of bed at the knock on pounding on her door and still in her sleeping outfit in a light heather gray scoop neck cotton tank top tight on her top half without a bra and cheeky underwear.

Akil frowned in confusion, leaning on the door, "What?"

"We—" The door across the hall opening stops Luke.

Coming out the other door was a single mother in her work uniform with her two preteens. The son grins at the new neighbor in her underwear as the mother quickly covers their eyes. She eyed Akil judgmentally, walking by, assuming the two men were there to have their way with the woman together; especially with not knowing the silent new resident in the quadplex.

Word traveling around the quadplex was Akil being a lesbian. But now since the single mother witnessed the new resident at the door in her underwear with two men, there would be another thing to gossip about.

The mother was scolding her son to keep his eyes forward as the trio exited the door at the end of the hall that led to the back parking.

"Can we come in?"

Akil opened the door wider, allowing her copartner's in and shut the door. The two took a seat on the smoke gray two-piece sectional with a contemporary profile. "Again, I'll ask; what are y'all doing here this early?"

"It's going on eight in the mornin," Edi allowed her to know, "And—"

"Because we continue, can you put on some bottoms; maybe a bra?" Luke asked cutting off Edi. "Pretty hard to have a serious conversation with your nipples and ass on display. Nice view. But I'm tryna be respectful."

Akil looked to Edi to see if he felt the same as Luke and he agreed with a soft shrug, smiling a little. She groaned, "Y'all are such little boys."

Akil went back to grab her cotton mint-green robe, tying it to cover her body, and returned to the living room with the gentlemen. "Okay, tell me why y'all are here this early?"

"Because we know you gonna go undercover on Warren Young despite Lieutenant telling you not to."

Akil looked at Edi and decided to lie, "No I'm not."

"We know you don't have the best reputation on following your chain of commands orders, Akil." Luke stated, "Don't lie to us and say your not."

"Okay, say I do; why not go to the Lieutenant?"

Edi and Luke glanced at each other sighing. "Any other time we would have..." Edi voiced to her, "But I got word that Justice Young is back."

"Nobody's seen him, but they know he's back and if you going undercover to get Justice only and not to someway put the wrong light on a respected officer, we encourage the move."

Akil folded her arms under her breasts. "Does Lieutenant know?"

"No; neither does Wes," Edi mentioned the lead detective.

"This can stay between us three." Luke suggested, "But we have a serious rule Akil. No doing this to get Warren especially when he done nothing wrong. Just to get close to Justice."
