RUN FOR MY LIFE!

It's been 3 hours since they have started chasing me and they still are

Right now I'm running through the forest, trying to get away from them, especially her and I must say she's very energetic for a person who rarely goes out of her house

But they're not the only thing that I'm running from, I'm also running away from those things. Not those annoying bugs but those...demons

'Did you just call your soon-to-be wife an annoying bug?' The inner voice said

I rolled my eyes as I continued running through the forest, a loud roar suddenly came from behind me and loud footsteps quickly followed it indicating that I need to RUN FASTER

I took a sharp left before jumping over a tree log that must've fell because of a giant

And as usual, multiple footsteps followed me I panted heavily as I continued to run, I notice that the forest was starting to get dark indicating that the sun was starting to set and to be honest I've never been happier

I know that it's dangerous at night but right now, it's very much needed the only thing I have to worry right now is going feral

'As long as it's not a full moon I'm safe'

I hear another roar from behind me and a man screaming for help but I don't hear the footsteps stopping

'Looks like that guy is dinner'

I looked back and saw that the mutant zombie did in fact, caught a guy and is now eating that person

'Well that's disturbing ' I thought as the mutant zombie rip apart the guy, spilling his blood and guts on the ground

'Is that zombie eating the mans intestine like it was spaghetti?' The inner voice asked

'I think he is'

I grimace as I see more zombies coming from behind the mutant zombie and feasting on the guys, I heard a high pitch scream that almost made me deaf, it sounded near me like it was in front of me...

'Oh shit' I look ahead and saw that there was a freaking wailing zombie in front of me, its skinny rotten body and ragged clothes could be seen clearly

I look around and saw that there's a nearby cave right behind 3 big trees they were thick enough to hide the cave yet small enough to see the cave if looked closely

'First I gotta lose these guys'

I got my gun out and pointed it at the wailing zombie, it was hard to aim since I'm still running but I manage to shoot its head

But that did not stop a hoard of zombies coming to us, I glance back and saw that the people who were chasing me before, were now focused on that mutated zombie so I took this chance to run towards the cave

But then I noticed her, she was completely focus on the task at hand to notice a zombie coming up behind her

I thought I should just leave and let her comrades handle it since they were 8 of them but then it would've been my fault if they also didn't notice that zombie and ends up killing her

'Should I also warn her about the zombie hoard that's coming?' A part of me said no but another part said yes

'It's hard to decide when she's your childhood best friend' I ended up choosing the latter to both questions

"LIN! BEHIND YOU!" I shouted but I was too far from her to hear me

'Well shit, plan B it is' I thought as I took out my gun once again and aimed it at the undead before shooting it which caused for her to turn around immediately and see an undead dead....again

She looked around and her eyes met mine, she glared at me as we held eye contact for a while before I finally snapped out of it and remembered why I stopped

I then pointed towards the wailing zombie on the ground that was a feet away from me and almost at cue the roars of a mutant zombie came, along with loud footsteps

'And that's my sign to get the fuck out of here' I thought as I looked at her and see her nodding at me after that I ran

Not before making sure that those guys weren't looking at me, I ran towards the cave and hid behind a huge boulder that was a little far back from the entrance of the cave

I sat down and took a deep breath before exhaling it and relaxed a little, sweat covered my whole body from running and I did not like it

I took off my bag and took out the fruits that I found while scavenging around the forest with the team

I saw the fruits and I decided to get some for the little kids back at the base and that lead me to getting lost in the forest alone until those guys came along and started chasing and fighting me and they had the nerve to ask what am I doing there

'Oh I don't know, I totally wasn't looking for my team and scavenging for more useful things, I was just taking a lovely walk in the woods, admiring the beautiful sunset'

I scowled as I thought about that moment that occurred a few hours ago, if only they didn't start firing at me! We wouldn't have had to run from those zombies then I could've told them that I was lost and not spying on them, at least that wasn't the task I was assigned today

But then again I doubt they'd help me,the high officials hate each other to the point where they somehow convinced the civilians to hate the other group and separating the land into 2

I sighed as I rest my head on the rock behind me, the sounds of guns firing and zombies screaming can be heard here, including the mens screaming orders

I got up and looked behind the huge boulder to see them fighting 2 mutant zombies, one was at least 8 feet tall with big, bulky arms and a huge body but a small head and the other was standing on 2 hind legs with big arms and weird shaped head

I was sure that if they manage to survive, they'd be boasting about it to other people but definitely leaving out the fact that they were scared shitless

The sun was setting and they were still fighting off the zombies, It makes me feel like a jerk that I'm just standing here eating fruits and watching them, while they are fighting for their lives

But in my defence, I don't have enough knives nor guns to fight off those things

'But you can shift to help them' A voice suggested in my head

'And get caught? No thanks and I can't shift right now, I'll cause a wildfire'

I shook my head to dismissed those thoughts and just watch the scene like it's  a movie 

They were once 8 minus 1 now they're 7, then 7 minus 4 now they're 3, such a shame five are dead and three remain, none of them are looking good

'Won't you go help them?' A voice asked

'I can't, I don't have enough to fight those things' I responded

'Then shift, it's dark now'

I was so focus on the fight that  I didn't notice that it was dark now and more of those things are still coming

'Maybe you should help them now'

'Maybe I should' I went behind the boulder once again and took of my boots and socks, I placed them next to my bag and went to the darkest part of the cave

I then close my eyes and took a deep breath before exhaling, Attempting to calm my body as much as I can before letting the darkness swallow me whole
