The next few days were uneventful. I kept waking up early, worked all day long, and there was no sign of Ethan. It was Friday, exactly one week since I first saw David and Ethan. I was at the café, sitting in my chair, waiting for customers. A few moments later, I heard the bell ringing, and I stood up to look at the door.
"Y/N!" David exclaimed, jumping into my arms.
"Hey, how are you doing?" I asked David.
"I am good. Ethan picked me up from kindergarten, and we drove here," he said before walking over to Ethan, who was standing in front of us. Ethan looked beautiful with his long hair tied up in a bun, a black shirt, and black pants.
"What would you guys like?" I asked them.
"The same as last week, please, if you can," Ethan told me.
"Of course," I smiled.
As I made their drinks, I felt someone's presence next to me.
"Hey, Y/n?" Ethan asked, and I turned to look at him.
"Hey, is something wrong?" I asked, concerned.
"No, I just wanted to talk to you," he said.
"Sure, go ahead," I said, looking at him and smiling.
"I wanted to ask you if you'd like to go out with me sometime," he said, looking at his feet before meeting my gaze.
"Sure, I would love to," I said and smiled.
"Okay, so let me know when you are free," Ethan said.
"I am always free after my shift, so at 8:30 pm Monday till Thursday, and 6 pm on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday."
"Perfect. What about meeting today after I drop David off at his grandpa's?" Ethan asked.
"Sure, but why his grandpa's? I thought David was your nephew, so he should have parents," I said, feeling confused.
"Sorry for asking. It's not my business.""It's a long story, David is here, and I don't want to make him sad. But I will tell you this evening," Ethan said.
"Okay, sure," I answered.
Ethan helped me finish their drinks, and we all sat together. Since there were no other customers, I was happy spending time with them.
"Hey buddy," Ethan started talking to David.
"Here, take the chocolate," he continued.
"Yay! Thank you, Y/n, you make amazing hot chocolate!" David said, smiling.
"No problem, kid," I smiled and walked to the counter to leave my apron.
"So David, is it all right if you sleep over at your grandpa's tonight?" Ethan asked his nephew.
"Ethan, but today was our day. Every day, you are working with Dam, Thomas, and Vic, and only Friday, we spend time together," David said, almost crying.
"I know, buddy, don't be sad. I'll try to take you tomorrow," Ethan said, hugging David.
I was feeling guilty. I didn't know that Friday was David's day with Ethan.
"Ethan, you should spend today with him," I said.
"It's alright. I will make it up to him tomorrow," Ethan said, still holding David.
The child was not upset anymore; he was drinking his hot chocolate. So I nodded and let them finish their drinks.
"Okay, this time tell me how much I have to pay," Ethan said and smiled.
"Ethan, no. You don't need to pay," I said.
"I have to. I can't come here and drink for free. It's not my café to come here and take everything for free," he said.
" That's true but I can pay for it," I replied, acknowledging Ethan's concern.
"So do I" Ethan insisted, handing me 60 euros.
"Thanks, but a hot chocolate and an espresso don't cost that much," I pointed out.
"Consider the rest a tip," Ethan grinned, before leaving the café with David.
