Pulling her mind from those memories, Kiara swept a glance over her apartment. The view serving as a constant reminder of the stark contrast to the life she had lived with Nick. These days she could barely get by, Nick had gone out of his way to blacklist her name so no one in town would hire her. After she had been kicked out, Kiara had no means of renting a house, her bank account had been wiped and forget staying with family. She was an only child, and both her parents were loners who never really spoke of any relatives. If it wasn't for Mr. Albert whom she had known as a teen, she might have found herself living in the streets or even starved to death. Ever since she was a child, old man Albert had took a liking to her. He was a gentle soul, with a kind heart and a wise head. Kiara still remembered those days when terry and her gang would taunt her, making her feel like an outcast. It was Mr. Albert who was there lifting her spirits, he had a way of making her feel special. It seemed that he was the only constant thing in her life that was good.
Rising from the couch, Kiara made her way to the kitchen to heat up some soup. Hell, it was the only thing she could eat much less afford these days. She took a fortifying breath as she entered and looked around. A relapse of memories as Kiara viewed the old stove just sitting in the corner. For months now her passion for baking was placed on a standstill, her dreams too of ever owning that small bakery she'd always wanted. Now, it was just her and this place that she could barely even afford to renovate. Forcing herself to concentrate, Kiara placed the soup bowl in the microwave, her mind once again began to loose itself in thoughts.
Beep, Beep, After a few moments Kiara realized that her dinner was ready. Carefully opening the door, she picked it up and headed back to the living room sinking into the couch. Setting aside the bowl she signed, it was all too depressing to do this over and over again. For months it was the same, same meal, same routine of her crying and lamenting of the past, while for all she knew he was out there enjoying his life without her. She was tired of it.
They had so many plans, she was supposed to be a mother by now. But in the end he chose to end their relationship, and for what? She wasn't even sure why, now here she was. About to breakdown for the fourth time that day Kiara dashed to the bathroom with maddening steps. With shaking hands resting against her rusted sink she tried calming herself down. Taking several deep breath she stared herself in the eye through the cracked mirror above the sink. "Kiara Stop, stop thinking about him, he doesn't matter, not anymore, it's always gonna be the same if you keep thinking about him. Please stop." Her eyes red and swollen from all the crying, she began to feel her heart pounding.
"Not this again" She'd spent many a day and night curled up, rocking back and forth as panic attacks placed onslaught on her body. She could feel the imminent threat of one oncoming. Clenching her hands alongside the sink, she began to breathe slowly, determined not to let this happen again, she was over it now. "In and out Kiara, come on you can do this". Gradually she began to feel the tightness of her chest slowly pulling apart, her heartbeat easing back to its normal pace. Relieved that she was able to that, a smiled crept across her face. It was the first in what seemed like years she was able to genuinely do that, it felt great.
